I was in progress with the Florida certification board to take the certification test. I now want to work towards getting my LACD license.During supervision with my supervisor in Florida I sat in three times on intake and assessment procedures. The hardest part is differentiating between being a counselor and a peer as some of the ethical methods are different.Since I have been back in Minnesota, I received my IC & RC certification in peer support specialist and worked for Kyros. Kyros just recently shut the doors and I found myself out of a job immediately.Work Experience:Peer recovery support specialist, Kyros of Minnesota: May 2024 - September 2024: River City Recovery Ministries was partnering with Kyros so I was working for that program working one on one with the clients in the program.Case Manager/recovery Coach Centerstone of Florida Florida November 2017 to November 2023: Worked on a multidisciplinary team. Met one on one with clients in the community and during Covid worked telehealth. I advocated for clients when needed and supported them in staffing and court sessions. The client population that I worked with at this job was people who had a CPS (child protective services) case plan and substance abuse issues. I worked as a case manager also providing the clients with resources and performing duties such as FARS, nurturing parenting classes and providing transportation at times. If needed I would get clients to 12 step meetings. I was trained in SMART recovery but have not lead any groups to this point. Did do DAP (data, assessment and plan) notes for documentation on an Avatar system.Behavior Health Technician Meridian Behavioral Health - MN March 2016 to September 2017. Worked at Meadowcreek inpatient treatment facility where I mainly transported clients to treatment, to medical appointments, and store visits. My favorite part was being one on one with clients and getting to know clients as I brought them into treatment. I also had to be the presence of authority to keep things running smoothly and conflict free during treatment down times.
