Project Details
Lead Implementer of Altiris
-I was a key member of a small team assembled to choose a systems management tool to replace Microsoft s
Software Management Systems 2.0 (SMS). The project took approximately 18 months including proof of
concepts and comparison of features of 4 leading edge system management tools. Altiris was recommended and
purchased. I was a lead implementer for the Altiris suite including architectural design, installation, and client roll
out. I am the primary Altiris administrator controlling all configurations, changes, and deployment within the
Altiris product. I successfully rolled out the Altiris client to 20,000+ workstations in 3 months, including building
4 NS servers.
ESP (Enterprise Scanning Process)
-I was given the task of tracking and maintaining the security patch level of over 7,000 devices located in
the Pittsburgh area. I developed an automated process that scanned specified IP segments, both LAN, WAN, and
non-connected networks for all windows-based systems on a 3-hour schedule. Each PC discovered was
interrogated for every security patch released by Microsoft since 1999. The data, including more than just the
patch status, was automatically updated in a SQL database. I provided management and technicians with a variety
of secure web-based reports displaying patch statistics per site with the ability to drill down to display individual
PC information. Due to the large success, management insisted that my process (ESP) be expanded to include the
whole corporation of over 24,000 devices which was successfully accomplished in approximately 2 months.
GCA Manager in Visual Basic
-Two teammates and myself developed GCA Manager as an expansion to the capabilities of the Staff Database I
had successfully designed and implemented. GCA Manager saved time and money by automating multiple
administrative tasks for greater than 200 cash managers, while reducing errors. The program used a hiappi
interface to connect to rumba\Pcomm and gather up-to-date mainframe information for an array of accounts.
GCA Manager compiled the collected information and provided management summaries and workflow reports.
