I learned a lot about customer service, how to operate their heavy machinery, and how to build or assemble Most of their products. They had Order pickers, Reach (standing forklift), and bigger sitting forklifts. My duties were to unload the trucks of products and then put them away in their respective department. Also was the delivery coordinator, these tasks I would have to find and put in order the customer's deliveries for the next day, both online and in-store orders. It would be Fridges, stoves, Hardware, grills, patio sets, a wide variety of products that Lowes would have, and whatever it was I was put in charge to find it overnight for the morning crew would then deliver it to the customer's home. We would also arrange and rearrange the displays of products throughout the store, another such skill I learned was how to assemble products such as grills, furniture, mowers, and almost everything they have to offer. There was a lot of heavy lifting, walking up and down stairs as well as through the store. I learned a lot about home improvement and the tools needed to do such jobs.][Working at Dunkin I have learned to speak to many types of customers, my duties included but were not limited to making coffee, making sandwiches, lattes, and cappuccinos, tending the register, cleaning all the tables, and making sure the trash was taken out. It is not so difficult but when there was a rush we would have to be multi-tasking and making sure we have the right order for every customer so they can leave happy and come back again.][While working at UPS my responsibilities included loading and unloading packages from planes to awaiting trailers, sorting boxes, making labels, checking container quality and counts of containers, helping the drivers, conveyor belt operation, trailers equipped with air-ride qualifications, but mainly I would coordinate arrival and departure of trailers that came into our OHare facility. This work was often done under adverse conditions but with plenty of focus on the job always got done. Also, lifting 75100-pound packages was a daily occurrence. I was also certified in many jobs, these are as follows; 8 lifting and lowering methods, 5 steps to preventing slips and falls, and Hazardous Material training. On this, we were certified every year, and so were our ears for hearing loss, always passed. I was also part of the Safety Committee at O'Hare UPS, observing a worker at random and letting them know where they did good on safety or needed improvement, and as of 1/2019 the OHare facility was the safest facility in Illinois and was recognized by Regional Managers.[While at the Buyers Flea Market, one of my responsibilities was to open and close the store, and tend to every customer and their needs. Being bilingual was a plus, speaking both Spanish and English to the customers. I also made sure that our displays were looking exceptional in order to catch the eye of a passing customer]SKILLSFile Management, Administrative Support, Customer Service, Strategy, Data EntryEarly Childhood Development (English and Spanish), Excellent customer service, Quick learner, Deadline orientated, Problem-solving, good telephone etiquette, Reading, Computer literate, great organization skills, MS proficient, Word Processor, Excel, Heavy lifting (50+), Proofreading, Bilingual (Spanish/English), PowerPoint, APA style writing, Essay writing, Order picking, Forklift, can use many power tools (ie. Associates in Psychology 2024][Food Handlers Certificate of Illinois] 6/12/2023-6/12/2026COMMUNICATION[At UPS one of the main points that was drilled into us was to keep eye contact with each other and COMMUNICATE, because of the heavy machinery and packages. Part of being on the safety committee was that we had to give a safety and wellness presentation twice a week. Multi-tasking was always a big part of the job as well. At Lowes, we were a small team with each of us handling a different department and that helped me build teamwork as well as independent problem-solving if something came to happen]LEADERSHIP[When working at the Buyers Flea Market I would personally have to get the merchandise that we would have to sell and stock. I was technically my own boss. As a coordinator for Lowes, I would have to get the paperwork ready for what needed to be delivered and what was being canceled and confirmed all the locations of said deliveries, Also in UPS I was in charge of the lower level where the tracker trailers would sit to be loaded and would coordinate the trailers arrival and departure with comms to the person Upstairs who spoke to dispatch.]SCHOOLIn College I have learned a lot on how to manage my time and with studying Psychology I have also learned a lot about having people skills with adults and children. It has been a great experience; my writing and reading has gotten very well. I will also add that in University we have been thought to deal with many different cultures and backgrounds and types of mental illness.REFERENCES[Michaela Cabrera/ UPS Head Manager/ 773-686-7480][Elena Valasquez/ Store owner Buyers Flea Market/ PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLE[Carlos Ramos / AT&T RAN Engineer/ PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLE[Robert Chavez / Tool and Dye maker/ PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLE[Caryl Henrichs/ Lead supervisor Reporter at the IWCC/ 312-814-6500] |
