I worked in the Deli Department, waiting on customers, cutting lunchmeat, serving orders of salad and fried chicken, filling orders or fruit trays for parties.In 1989 my husband and I had started purchasing tractors our first two tractors and leasing them on to other companies. Until the point in which we got up to 5 tractors and then my husband went on to running the tractors and trailers in the intermodal business.Meanwhile I was working for a transportation company, in St Louis, MO, that was involved in rail car shipments, intermodal shipments, and brokerage of freight. The St Louis based company knew my background in transportation since 1980 and the different variety that I had been exposed to that they had me in every part but the complete accounting department. Eventually they had me handling the sales mens ratings of all shipments for the customers. When they had one of their keep rail road shipment men had to be out for surgery they had me fill in for him and then when they moved him to a promotion they moved me into his position. When in that position they realized that I can fill in there and be the go between with the operation department and the accounting department, since their son was not doing his job there for them. There I was able to accomplish in a few month time two entire credenzas that were over one foot high of problem bills that had to be handled. Through that process I discovered that their trucking company rates and railroad rates had not been kept up to date to be able not have all the problems bills to contend with. That became another project besides the fact that none of the trucking companys insurance certificate were not current either.While working for the other transportation company in St Louis, MO, the evenings were spent at our own trucking company. Those evening I would do all the invoicing and manual record keeping for our company. For about one year I continued working at both places until it was just too much. Then I worked exclusively for us. From 1990 to about 2018 I have been full time at our own company called T-J Transport, Inc. From 2018 I came into the office to help fill in when people were on vacation or if my husband had to be out driving locally due to vacations, sickness, or business just being that busy.PERSONALI enjoy crocheting, working on crafts, and repurposing furniture, doors, and windows.
