Collaborating closely with others, I oversaw and became familiar with the REDCap database and EPIC system which I used to collect data and support participant recruiting. I spoke with various participants, underlined the importance of our research, and helped with survey completion to gauge the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic on expecting mothers and their infants. I recruited many participants in recruiting for this research study. Additionally, I conducted literature reviews, honed communication strategies for diverse audiences, and contributed to increasing recruitment numbers. This experience allowed me to meet learning goals such as participating in ethical research, collecting data, and conducting effective literature searches.REN Clinic Manager Remote October 2022-June 2024By providing free, trauma-informed medical assessments, mental health evaluations, access to social services, and continuity of medical care to U.S. asylum seekers who have experienced torture and other human rights abuses, the Mount Sinai Human Rights Program (MSHRP) works to advance health, dignity, and justice. As a clinic manager, I handled case management with the Redcap database system by liaising with the client's legal team to complete the necessary paperwork to get a psychiatric assessment. Additionally, scheduling assessments allows for coordination between the legal team and the evaluator. I would shadow the evaluations and support the legal staff by ensuring they have their affidavit before the deadline for their court hearing.Social Public Health Fellowship December 2021-May 2022Social Public Health, formally known as the Social Safety Initiative, was a distant internship that modified institutional social norms to promote health-positive interpersonal behaviors. I worked on two separate projects. The first was conducting an outreach awareness campaign headed by the organization's volunteer non-social profit hygiene team. This included understanding what social hygiene is and how it may be used to decrease the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The organization had the opportunity to partner with Citizen Politics, managed by former Seattle City Council member Nick Licata, midway through the internship. Advanced database cleansing, administrative skill development, and looking for university partners through a list of sources were all part of this project. Furthermore, I devised a survey to understand how student political clubs and their advisors see their institution's engagement with public health experts and how talks with public health professionals might better impact their policy-making decisions.Borgen Project: HR Internship Remote Internship June - November 2021During my internships with The Borgen Project, I gained excellent human resources and nonprofit leadership expertise. From September to November 2021, I worked remotely as an HR ambassador, concentrating on national recruitment and developing key HR management skills like recruiting, selection, and staff training. I updated job advertisements, alerted groups about available opportunities, and led a personal fundraising drive to support advocacy initiatives. Before this, from June to September 2021, I worked as a Nonprofit Leadership Intern, committing 12 hours per week to telecommuting duties. In this capacity, I gained valuable leadership skills by representing The Borgen Project at numerous events, motivating individuals for advocacy initiatives, and polishing fundraising and marketing tactics. These experiences have equipped me with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of nonprofit operations and advocacy.ReferencesUpon Request |
