KNAUF INSULATION INC, PROCESS ENGINEER MAR 2022 MAY 2024
1 Knauf Dr.; Shelbyville, IN 46176
Successfully conducted a trial to reduce scrap to decrease customer complaints
Oversaw and improved the manufacturing processes within the plant
O Fixing a safety system
Worked with cross functional teams to make operation of production process to be efficient
and effective
O Improved the conveyor speed settings so that it is more automated
Implemented continuous improvement initiatives because of a change in the process in change
management
O Installed encoders for controlling equipment angle with a digital button.
Ensured compliance with quality standards due to data analysis to identify opportunities for
improvement
O Led a project to install equipment like cameras for glue nozzles for quality
concerns.
Supported new product designs
Develop and modified work instructions, set points tables, process standards to reduce errors
Monitored pH levels in the water daily
O Verified that pH probes are reading correctly every week. If pH probes
aren t reading correctly then I calibrated the probes so it was in a specific
range. If the probes weren t in that range, then they would be replaced.
Modified a manual for how to use and troubleshoot the probe.
Oversaw Thermox readings monthly
O Verified Thermox has the correct output. The Thermox has to be in range
for it to work properly. If verification fails, then I needed to calibrate it. If
calibration doesn t work, I looked at the manual for the equipment provided
by the supplier for a solution. Contacted Lynarc to get gas tanks and fittings.
Created a manual to verify and calibrate Thermox.
Conducted area audits
O Worked with operators and supervisors to organize area using 5s + Safety.
Sort to know what is needed/removed, Set needed items tools in the right
places, Shine to make the area neat, Standardize identifying the best
practices and making it the norm, Sustain the update TPM sheets to keep the
area neat, make sure the area is Safe.
Piloted activities using project planning
Candidate's Name
O Used project planning to finish the Upstacker project that I was given a time
frame of 3 weeks to finish. I was able to complete the project within the
deadline. Completed the 4 stages: problem, solution, instruction, and
evaluate. The problem was there needed to be a way to make it easier for the
operators to adjust a stack of bags to go in a machine. The solution was to
install a program. I walked the operator through the process and wrote a
work instruction. Lastly, I evaluated the results which was a success.
Led programs that include project coordination
O Used project coordination on my Fiber Index vs Micronaire project. The
objective was to match the new machine to the old machine output so that
operators won t be confused. I led the team controlling this by keeping a
constant amount of fiber in the Fiber Index Machine versus a vary amount
in the Micronaire. This was important to match the range of each machine.
While monitoring the project, I directed the operators to clean and calibrate
the machine. As a result, I discovered the right input to match the output.
Served as project manager for multiple campaigns
O Served as a project manager for the Blowing Crown cleaning project. Led
the effort of cutting the time of cleaning each Blowing Crowns from 1 hour
and 30 minutes to 45 minutes. During my analysis, I discovered the
Blowing Crowns did not need to be cleaned as often as the operators were
doing. As a result, this saves the company money because the operators do
not need to skip over products for equipment to be ready and maintenance
has an extra to use.
Assisted with Knauf recruitment of college talents
O Used my experience in college from involving myself in being a part of
executive boards in organizations I was able to connect Knauf with other
organizations all around the country. I was able to connect Knauf with
organizations like Society of Women Engineer (SWE), National Society of
Black Engineers (NSBE), and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
(SHPE). From colleges like Eastern Michigan Univeristy, Rose-Hulman
institute of Technology, University of Pittsburgh and other schools as well.
Developed and presented presentation on a weekly basis
O Every Friday I would give a presentation on what I have done throughout
the week, while using data to back up my conclusions. I would use
Powerpoint or Excel to show multiple projects being started and completed.
Wrote a proposal for upgrade of equipment
O The belt on the Assembly line was wet so working with contractors we were
able to design a new system with electrical wiring, installing a motor, and
new way to dry the belt. This project costs so much that I needed to write a
proposal with cost-benefit but unfortunately my bosses evaluated this
project and felt this system wasn t need for the process.
EMERSON ELECTRIC, ENGINEER CO-OP JAN 2020 MAY 2020
1675 West Campbell Road.; Sidney, OH 45365
Redesigned assembly lines using AutoCAD and lean manufacturing.
O Drawn the assembly line as they were on AutoCAD, understood and
executed the area parameters that my manager recommended to make the
area smaller, and removed/modified equipment on the assembly lines using
lean manufacturing.

Designed models i.e. guards on a flow meter using Autodesk Inventor.
O Listened to operators, on the assembly lines, concerns about a flow meter
that was getting damaged. I designed the flow meter on Autodesk Inventor
and another engineer approved of my design.
Worked with maintenance to retrofit equipment.
O With a drawing that I made on AutoCAD, I explained what I have drawn to
maintenance and why it was important for a flow meter. The guard was
assembled and given to the operator. I received positive feedback from the
operator about the flow meter guard.
Constructed cardboard prototypes from drawings constructed in Autodesk Inventor.
O Based on a hand drawing from my manager I drew a leak detection box in
Autodesk Inventor, and then constructed cardboard prototype.
Obtained safety plaque quotes for forklift.
O Contacted the company who supplies the plaques to acquire a quote and
updated the data base on forklifts and forklift chargers.
Created electronic racks in the plant with AutoCAD.
O Worked with contractors, they construct the electronic racks, to learn more
about the electronic racks. With the information I was able to discuss with
my manager to discuss the changes that would have to be made from having
electronic racks i.e. adding electrical outlet and making space for these
electronic racks. With the information I was able to build this in AutoCAD
and get a quote for the electronic racks.
Provided recommendations and feedback to the management team.
O When Covid was just beginning, I came up with ideas on how we can help
protect the employees i.e. cleaning supplies, putting tape to remind
employees about social distancing and placed plastic sheets to separate
stations from one another.
Conducted and organized meetings with the entire engineering team.
O Setup meetings about changes in the plant with drawings in AutoCAD.
Used data (Excel) to improve Kanban system.
O With the improved Kanban system that I did, I was able to add the
necessary changes in the plant drawings in AutoCAD.
Implemented design change to improve assembly line production speed.
O Rearranged an assembly line to take up less space, less time and could be
done by one person instead of five people.
Resolved material flow problems.
O Adjusted pack out area to create more space and removed unused material.
Interacted with union representatives.
Identified, diagnosed, and solved daily assembly line problems.
O Fixing a flow meter design flaw, getting somebody to clean a mess in the
plant, relaying a problem somebody has to my manager, and handling
disputes with employees.
Followed OHSA regulations during daily activities.
O Researched OHSA regulations and made sure it was followed.
