Job DescriptionJob Title: CustodianDepartment: OperationsReports to: Superintendent/Facilities DirectorSummary Description:The Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the physical space of facility is sanitary, clean and orderly at all times.Essential Job Functions: Adhere to the scheduled custodial and preventive maintenance plan to ensure that all commonand office areas of a facility are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.Ensure that all restroom are cleaned throughout the day and have adequate supplies as needed.Ensure that all trash bibs are emptied and other trash is picked up throughout the day disposedof properly; Ensure that all rugs and floor are maintained daily; Maintain adequate types and amounts of supplies for the completion of duties; Is PROACTIVE: Keeps supervisor informed of day-to-day activities and significant conditionsthat may impact upon accomplishing tasks assigned;report when cleaning supplies, etc., are low inform supervisor of immediate needs(repairs, etc.)in the facility that require special attention; Responsible for care and maintenance of all cleaning tools, supplies, etc. Participate in staff meeting and training; Participate in advocacy/direct action to end the twin crisis of AIDS and homelessness.Other Job Functions: Fulfill other special projects/assignments as directed by the Superintendent and/or Director ofOperations.Job Requirements: The ability and aptitude to carry out a SCHEDULED CUSTODIAL AND PREVENTIVEMAINTENANCE PLAN for a major facility. Knowledge and skill for utilization of cleaning equipment and supplies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good interpersonal skills.Qualifications: High School diploma or GED; At least one year related work experience required.Working Conditions Although linked to a particular facility, custodians may be request to perform their duties atanother site on occasion; Must be flexible in regards to scheduling; Overtime as required including Saturday and holidays; Handle cleaning chemicals and solvents daily.
