Employed by Webasto on various progressive roles of responsibility continuously from 2004 until 2009.Responsibilities included making product designs using Catia V4 and V5, validation testing, benchmarking, working with suppliers, making tolerance stacks, creating drawings using GD&T dimensioning, troubleshooting with root cause analysis, making design proposals, and maintaining product structures. The Mercedes TSR tilt-slide roof sunshade substrate part module was costing too much to purchase from the supplier in France. I initiated action on a cost reduction to resource this sunshade to a U.S. source. Negotiated with various suppliers, modified the design and coordinated the validation testing. This effort resulted in a $4 piece price reduction that yielded a savings of $500,000 per year for Webasto.Customers were breaking the Rollerblind Coupling through misuse on the Mercedes OSR outer sliding panoramic roof module. After verifying the root cause of the problem, I brought DuPont, the maker of the raw POM plastic material in and had them make a laboratory analysis of the coupling as a part quality issue. I made three design proposals to change the coupling, summarized the lab report and determined that the parts we were getting were inadequate. I suggested a solution and passed this information on to our vice president of Supplier Quality, and after modifying the mold per my recommendation, the problem was eliminated.A ticking noise was heard in the Mercedes OSR module and worked with our cable supplier to come up with a new, stiffer cable that is quieter. Validation testing is still going on and the initial results are that this problem is now solved.Led a vital benchmarking project of a competitive sunroof. The result was the team I coordinated created an extremely detailed and thorough benchmark study, allowing the company to learn about our competitors sunroof that we will be able to implement on our future designs.A Honda SZA Pilot Water Trough Seal was difficult and very slow to install resulting in additional piece price cost. I initiated and tested a design change to allow for much easier installation. The result is that the part is now being approved by Honda.HMS CO.
