In the 82nd, I earned Senior and then Master Jump Wings and was awarded the 82nd Combat patch for my service in support of Opn URGENT FURY (1983). I also participated in two sensitive operations in Central America. My key assignments in special operations include:Key Active Duty Positions: - (Street Address   1979) I was an NCO in support of sensitive operations with 10th Special Forces Group (ABN)- PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLEnd ABN DIV. I served in consecutive assignments as a BN S2, then as a PLT LDR, then as a BN Asst S3, and finally as a Company CDR. In Street Address , for my service as a BN Asst S3 in support of Opn URGENT FURY, I was awarded a Bronze Star.- (1985 - 1988) I served as the J2 for Special Operations Forces - EUROPE- (1989  1993) I served as the J2 for TF 160 Special Operations Aviation (including combat tours in Opn DESERT STORM and three compartmented operations). For my service in support of Opn DESERT STORM, I was awarded a Bronze Star 1st Oak Leaf Cluster.- (1994  1997) I served as the Leader of USSOCOMs CENTCOM Analysis Team.- (1997  2001) I served as the J2 of Special Operations Command CENTCOM (SOCCENT) including deployments as the Intelligence Officer for a CTJTF formed to investigate the 1998 bombings of U.S. Embassies in Kenya and in Tanzania; in support to Opn DESERT THUNDER (1998); and support to Opn DESERT FOX (1999).- (2001  2003) I served as the J2 of Joint Special Operations Command at Ft. Bragg, deployed to Afghanistan (Opn ENDURING FREEDOM). For my Service I was awarded a Bronze Star, 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster. In March 2003, the J3 and I were moved to Iraq to support operations in support of Opn IRAQI FREEDOM.- (2003  2004) I served as the deployed JSOC J2 in support of Opn IRAQI FREEDOM. In DEC 2003, I was the Senior Intelligence Officer responsible for tracking and ultimately capturing Sadam Hussein. For my service in support of Opn IRAQI FREEDOM, I was awarded a Bronze Star 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster.- (2004  2006) I served as the Commander of the Joint Intelligence Center, SOUTHCOM.- (2006  2007) I served as the Chief of USSOUTHCOM J2s Counterterrorism Team.I retired in July 2007 and was hired as a senior Intelligence counterterrorist analyst by USCENTCOM J2. I led CENTCOMs southern Afghan Team for five years, deploying five times as a Government civilian (GG-14) to support a special operations Task Force in Bagram, AFG and continuing that support from HQ CENTCOM even through today. I was awarded a Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award for each deployment to Afghanistan and the DIA Directors Annual Agency Team Award for my Teams work in 2010. For my personal support from 2009  2011, I was awarded ODNIs National Intelligence Exceptional Achievement Medal (the highest award a civilian analyst can earn who is not an agency Director). In 2012, I was transferred by the Director of CENTCOMs Afghan-Pakistan Center to CENTCOMs Pakistan Division and led a team in CENTCOMs Pakistan Network Analysis Branch. Currently, I am a senior Intelligence Analyst (Consultant) and Deputy Team Leader for a Regional Engagement Team responsible for training the allied military staffs throughout Central Asia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. I am also my Branchs senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) personally responsible for all aspects of the current counterterrorism plan for Afghanistan and Pakistan confronting the Taliban (Afghanistan), the Taliban (Pakistan  TTP), al Qaeda, and ISIS  Khorasan Province (ISIS-K).Education and Active-Duty Decorations:1973: I graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree; double major in history and in philosophy.Active-duty military, between 1977  2007: I earned service and joint, NCO and Commissioned officer, individual and unit awards commensurate with my grade and duties at every level, four Bronze Stars, and a Legion of Merit.1978: I graduated at the top of my German Language Class at the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, CA.1980: I graduated from U.S. Army Officer Candidate School, Ft. Benning, GA and commissioned a 2LT.1983: I was awarded a Bronze Star for my performance in support of Opn URGENT FURY (Grenada).1988-1993: I was awarded a Bronze Star (1st OLC), this for my service in support of Opn DESERT STORM providing Intelligence to support helo insertions into western Iraq, flying on three helo insertions, and one emergency helo exfil.1993-1996: I led the CENTCOM Analysis Team at USSOCOM. While there, I completed U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.2001-2002: For my performance as the JSOC J2 in support of Opn ENDURING FREEDOM (Afghanistan), I was awarded a Bronze Star (2nd OLC).2003-2004: For my performance as the JSOC J2 in support of Opn IRAQI FREEDOM (Iraq), and for conducting the Intelligence dragnet that led to the capture of Saddam Hussein (13 DEC 2003) and received a Bronze Star (3rd OLC).2004  2007: I was chosen to be the JIC CDR at USSOUTHCOM and served there until I retired in July 2007. For my career actions and service, I was awarded the Legion of Merit.2007 - I earned a Masters Degree (with Honors) in Strategic Intelligence with a Focus on National Security and Counterterrorism from the American Military University.Security Clearance: I have maintained a TS/SCI security clearance uninterrupted since 1978. My five-year TS/SCI was updated in March 2017, and I successfully passed my polygraph in July 2016. In 40 years of service with DoD, I have never had even one security violation.Work Ethic: I am an extremely hard worker with an outstanding work ethic. I have only taken 15 sick days in the past five years, and I do not take annual leave days, rather I donate my annual leave to others at CENTCOM/DIA to those who are in critical need. I and my family run 10k races, the Gasparilla races, and at least one obstacle course race a month.Critical Skills: Keen ability of establishing techniques and procedures to disrupt adversary insurgent, terrorist, and violent extremist organizations.
