ENTERTAINMENT PROJECT MANAGER and R&D SPECIALISTLeadership for the new era of media entertainment technology. SXSW: R&D COORDINATOR (JAN Street Address MAY 2023), CLIENT LIAISON (MAR 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024) Was tasked with doing an in-depth audit of the approved and shadow tech tools in use across the organization, with a focus on ticket sales, venue access and data, generating an understanding of information flow within the organization. This audit identified an important gap in information access that was significantly stifling sales of experiential advertising experiences. To address this gap, I investigated what potential advertisers were asking for, and how we could build an internal tool to fulfill advertiser needs while also abiding by SXSW data privacy and security policies. In parallel, I unearthed the cause of critical bottlenecks for hotel and travel sales, group sales contracts, merch sales and distribution, and data collection, all which created interdepartmental strife, suffocated revenue streams, and duplicated efforts, all of which harmed the attendee/client experience. Within these pain points I outlined opportunities for simplified processes that would follow the 80/20 rule- 80% ROI for 20% of interdepartmental effort. To accomplish this, I mapped SXSWs sprawling interdependent Access systems, documented competitor practices, and mastered the market for large event registration and access tools. In the end, I synthesized thousands of data points into a report of my recommendations for Registration and Access. The report was presented to C-level leadership, and used as a stakeholder requirements foundation for the creation of a new internal tool that unblocked sales and increased immersive experience sales by 65%. SXSWs mobile app consistently received lukewarm user feedback, and I was tasked with leading the User Research initiative to understand what was underperforming and how it could be improved. I coordinated with multiple departments to build a user research participant pool, and created Airtable automations to send out personalized invitations to participate in research interviews. I conducted 30 interviews, including key internal stakeholders in the process, to build internal alignment on where the app was failing to meet expectations. I facilitated internal workshops to align on the highest priority recommendations, which I focused on in a comprehensive usability and strategy report, which was delivered to SXSW C-level leadership. This report was used as a functional requirements document to enable the redesign of the SXSW app, improving the average App Store/Play Store app rating by .6 stars. Fulfilled a variety of interdepartmental technical project management and administrative project management roles throughout the event, including on-the-ground events planning and facilitation of high-traffic brand activations, client relationship management with advertisers, and crisis planning and response duties.
