Curriculum Vitae April 17, 2024BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARYDARRYL K. CLARE PH.D., GISP1832 Hancock Bridge ParkwayPhone: PHONE NUMBER AVAILABLEEmail: EMAIL AVAILABLEI was born in Harlem, New York City, and spent my childhood in Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. I lived in New York City until I turned twenty-one. I then moved to Berkeley, California, and started working in a Montessori preschool while also working as a bicycle messenger. Later on, I entered the industrial construction industry and eventually became an insulation company business owner. After earning a B.A. in Business Management from Saint Marys College of California, I worked as a Secondary School Mathematics Teacher in Malawi, Africa for two and a half years. I aimed to prove that Malawian females could succeed in Mathematics and Science, and my students did exceptionally well, with all of them graduating and becoming productive professionals in Medicine, Law, and Education.I then enrolled in the University of Florida, where I earned a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a minor in Geographic Information Systems. I went back to the University of Florida and completed a Doctorate Degree in Geography with a minor in Geographic Information Systems and Urban and Regional Planning. My research focused on international economic development (Brazil, Africa, Central America, and the United States), specifically using systems modeling, sustainable development theory, urbanization, and looking at the impact of human settlement on the natural environment. In the 20-plus years that followed my graduation, I held at least six employment experiences, including working as a High School Administrator for a Youth Build Program, a GIS(Geographic Information Systems) Administrator for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, an Adjunct Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University and Southwest Florida State College, and as a professor of Geography and GIS, Sociology. I also worked as a GIS Manager/Analyst with the City of Cape Coral. These experiences allowed me to create a series of advanced business solutions, often prompting me to investigate new methods of problem-solving. I have always included community development as an additional responsibility in my adult life.Throughout most of my career, I have been involved with community development in Quincy, Florida, internationally in Brazil and Africa, and locally in Fort Myers for thirty years. I have served as an NAACP Executive Board Member, National Action Network Vice President, and The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. as a Mentor/Tutor for five years. I am also the Founder and President of Community Connection Services, Inc. (CCSI), an organization that coordinates and manages proven programs and innovative alternatives to provide clear, effective solutions empowering our community to make sustainable personal changes that positively impact society.C.V. of Daryl Clare, Ph.D., GISP Page 2DARRYL K. Myers, FloridaTeaches geography as a core environmental discipline that focuses on human societies and the built environment; the earths bio-geophysical environments; and the ever more complex interactions that exist between these two. Interdisciplinary in nature, Geography brings together knowledge, theory, and methods from the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. Geography is age-old: it flourished as an early science in early Greek civilization and was central to the European Voyages of Discovery that mapped the world. In a present context, Geography is strategically placed to confront the challenges that beset us in the 21st century, for example, those related to environmental issues, resource use, abuse and management, urban and regional development and planning, globalization and its local impacts, and other vital topics. For me, Geography has strong intellectual connections with many other departments in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Science, Applied Science, Education, Business Administration, and Health Sciences.C.V. of Daryl Clare, Ph.D., GISP Page 32001 to date Adjunct Professor of Geographic Information Systems, Southwest Florida University, Ft.
