As consultant, Charles had worked as expert for projects in Brazil, such as Intelig (Long distance carrier owned by France Telecom), Maxitel (mobile carrier, owned by Telcom Italia) and abroad: Cable & Wireless-Jamaica, MTN-Nigeria. Charles had developed and implemented sales and business development strategies that led FML to acquire new customers in Brazil. After few months of outstanding performance either as consultant and business development roles, Charles was promoted to Brazil Country Manager and Principal Consultant for Latin America. Charles had written an article, based on an innovative service created by his team and him, a successful customer case: Fraud within Bad Debt, that was published in FML Yearbook. The project was able to identify fraud patterns hidden in the bad debt amount, that were fraud and not usual delinquency. It had also provided information and intelligence to tune credit and customer assessment thresholds in customer scrutiny process. He had worked with multicultural teams from Brazil, Canada, UK, and other countries. By that time, Americel was he first private mobile company, just after government started privatization of Brazilian Telco Industry. The company was facing a major default problem, when a renowned consultancy had identified that the high delinquency hates were due to a massive fraud problem, perpetrated by end customers. Americels CEO assigned Charles to manage the fraud department. Charles was responsible for developing and implementing a successful strategy and team that had reduced delinquency and fraud. Fraud rates were reduced by 80%. After that, Americels CEO assigned Charles to implement the Revenue Assurance department, reporting directly to him. This was an innovative department in Brazil in earlies 2000. Americels was the first Telco company to implement such department. Charles had to attend to events in US (CTIA, Revenue Assurance & fraud congress) for acquiring knowledge and evaluate some vendors for partnership for department implementation and management, that was very successful. Americels CEO had assigned Charles as company representative for fraud group in ACEL - Association for Brazilian Mobile Companies (like CTIA in US). Charles had worked in ACEL team that implemented CEMI (mobile devices project nationwide), a national record for stolen mobile devices. 03/1988 10/1996: MESBLA S/A (Biggest Brazilian Retail Department Stores) General Manager, Rio de Janeiro, RJ / BrazilCharles had started when 19 years old, as trainee, and had obtained several promotions, such as department leader, sub manager and store general manager in numerous areas of the company: sales, operations, procurement, and product development, being promoted up to highest position in store. He had ended his carrier in Mesbla as Store general manager(store director) where he was responsible for the store P&L, US$25 million revenues, leading a team of 130 employees for nearly 3 years. He had developed and implemented strategies that resulted in 30% sales increase and 40% of loss reduction.
