The Bridge is a local coffee shop on campus at American University.
Flexibility and multitasking are imperative to maintain the fluidity of
service. Camaraderie is a vital part of the job, especially during rush
hours. Often moving from one station to another to appease the flow of
traffic, which typically ranges to about 70 people at a time. The Bridge is
also utilized as an events space. Providing me with experience in booking, AWARDS
planning, preparation, and working with organizations and clubs on
campus.

As an events manager I am responsible for responding to email inquiries work in diversity and
for organizations wanting to use the space. I hold meetings and perform
walkthroughs to gauge the needs of the client. I provide them with inclusion
information regarding scheduling times and product availability. The rest
of my team members aid and I communicate in order to ensure the
success of the event overall.

My position as a conference assistant comprised a variety of duties. I
managed check ins and check out for upwards of 600-800 guests. Which
included the distribution of keys, organization of necessary materials, Spanish- Intermediate

and translating for guests and facilities staff. Picking up late night shifts
when someone is sick, fire drills, and other cases of emergency
emphasized the importance of team work and always providing a helping
hand. I worked with a professional staff of over 100 people including on
campus resources when needed such as Housing and residence life,
American University Police Department and conference coordinators.
