OBJECTIVEI am a Roman Catholic priest for 41 years living in South Florida for 33 years. My objective is to become a Spiritual Chaplain in a working, teaching hospital. A full time position is needed and I am ready to become a chaplain with my skills in counseling, companioning, walking with patients, families, and staff. In my experience the staff are over looked; they have no one to turn to in their need. We all rejoice when a patient is healthy to go home and back to life. The staff are there day in and day out. Who can they talk to when a patient has just died or had to be told the truth of their condition; the staff dont have adivnate training in how to deal with their own emotions, feelings of loss, inadequacies, failure when they cant save a patient. I have many years of experience helping staff and patience and their families dealing with trama that they never expected. I believe I have the skills to help deal with trama and the spiritual skills in helping to bring hopethrough scripture, prayer, compassion, listening, and so much more. It is the wounded who can best touch the woundedness in the healers.I am seeking a position as Chaplain focusing my prayer, spirituality, skills, and knowledge of dealing with extraordinary circumstances as one of them; who is also a wounded healer. I look forward to my interview. Thank you,Father Candidate's Name

Often I would go to visit a nearby village to sit and listen/learn their ancient ways from the chiefs.I designed a Easter Service that brought in many of the local customs, their language; this included a living drama of Good Friday and Baptism in the river. It was a full emersin experience in everyway possible from participating in ceremonial foods and dance. It was very hard to leave, especially after the chief pulled out a National Bird of Paradise from his head dress and gave it to me. I had won the hearts of the people and they had won mine. Part of me was left their with the people who had so generously welcomed me into their lives. An experience that changes my way of life and living that still influences me today. PROJECTSAugust 1998Design an age appropriate HIV/AIDS teaching program Master's Degree in Paychotheological Integration.I believe that both theology and psychology go very well together, especially in individual counseling sessions, and also in group therapy. first of all, almost everyone if not all persons have some concept of God. In many situations, people do not understand so they dont pay attention and say they dont believe.God, Jesus, sacred scriptures, and theological foundation is at the heart of religion. My reward in all this is swing a person who has given up, feeling hopeless and helpless to know how to start again with a hopeful disposition. Spring 1980 -1985Masters Thesis Published in Spring of 1985Available in the library at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, IL HOBBIESTennis, softball, swimming, body building, walking Through out my life these sports took first placebut always a part of my life. Body building began around the age of 35 until I contracted cancer. I have been cancer-free for 17 years. Now I do more walking to stay healthy and full of life and all that life offers me. I remain working part time in parishes that call on me. SUMMARYFor many years I have been interested in being a Chaplain in a hospital where both disappointments and miracles happen every day. There are many exciting stories/adventures, I could talk about but the one highlight of my career were the two years in Papua New Guiane. Living outside your home Country, learning to speak their native language andwas helping the pastor of the parish to deliver a baby boy to parents who were passing through our location on their way to their village. Due to certain taboos the local midwives would not help to deliver herbaby. As a result, the pastor and I delivereda very healthy baby boy.The summer of 1974 I was on assignmentin Mississippi for 12 weeks working in a VA hospital and Rehab Center assigned to the alcoholic ward. It was full hands on deck sitting in group, not saying very much but listening very intently. I learned a lot about addiction.I also spend a few weeks in a lockup ward where male nurses were present at all times. I learned to play Chess and sit quietly with some of the patronswho were more sedated. The ministry of quiet and being with the person taught me more about myself, they gave more to me than I felt I had given to them. It was yet another growing and blessedexperience in my life. I designed and was Director of the HIV/AIDS ministry for the Archdiocese for 15 years. I spent time working with others in the county, working in education in our public schools as well astrained and supervised 30-40 volunteers to work with our patient/friends who were committed to one phone visit and one face to face visit weekly. The entire team met once a month for evaluations, inservice, on-going education and one on one personal meetings with me. I retired from active parish ministry and the Director of the HIV ministry. I formally retired as Director of the HIV ministry in 2004do to cancer but continued to administer HIV/AIDS program until 2005. Once recovered from cancer I have served in several churches on an as needed basis. Following that I was hired by Cross Catholic Outreach, a non-for profit Catholic sponsored aide program for 5 years; traveling the country to churches asking them to support our mission work in 19 countries. Every month I was within the top 10% of donations collected. Covid shut down everything, two years later we finally opened up churches and began helping pastors once again.Eventually I went to work for Food For The Poor having the same responsibilities as with Cross Catholic, traveling wherever they wanted me to go for two years. It was rewarding when you could see people become aware and interested in helping the poorest of the poor. Now is the time God is calling me to take the next step into hospital ministry becoming a Chaplain serving the needs of the patients, families, and staff who are over looked. They need a safe place were they can talk and share their hurt, pain, feelings of failure and also want to share their struggles with their own humanity, that sometimes includes questions about God, suffering, and the dying process and death. What comes after death? I want to be part of helping all to know that God is love, compassion, forgiveness, and both physical and spiritual healer.I will be a positive asset to the mission and the goals of the healing ministry that we are all part of working together as a team.I bring 43 years of life experiences that has prepared me well for this ministry of Chaplain. I will enjoy having an interview with those concerned with the task of hiring a chaplain. Father Candidate's Name
