When my great aunt, became not only an educator, but an integral part of Black Teachers gaining the respect, equality and pay as others, I was so amazed at the position she held, when one day-she told me that education is not about the teachers or administrators, or anyone at the top, but about the children gaining all they can to make it as functioning individuals in society and going far beyond that. I have learned that Love and respect are the-key to attaining trust and respect from our children-and that they respond to those qualities far better than any other quality of a teacher other than understanding and treating each child as their need arises.
