Responded to an emergency service call from Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) due to their inoperable cruise ship in Bermuda, within 4 hours, I was in transit to Bermuda. Upon arrival in Bermuda discussed the ship s problem and formulated a plan of action with the chief engineer and captain. Chief engineer suspected a bad fiber optic connection from the ship's Engine Room to the Bridge, which cause a loss of control/maneuvering of the ships engines from the bridge. With assistance from the ship s crew, I was able locate and repair a broken fiber optic cable strain located on the ship s bridge in their primary data network cabinet. NCL ship s navigation and controls system was successfully tested and operational verified within approximately 2 hours of arrival.
