The experience of going back and forth so see them made a big impression on me, causing me to go where people needed doctors. I started off my medical career doing my National Health Scholarship Corp 3 year payback in the Department of Obstetrics Gynecology at Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma, subsequently finishing Family Medicine Residency in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then, in 1996, my two girls and wife and I went off to Kotzebue, Alaska, caring for Alaska Natives. One of our daughters finished High School there. I would like to return to delivering babies, doing prenatal care, as well as caring for all ages, again with a mixture of Inpatient and Outpatient. I would like to finish my career as a womb to tomb doctor (I have done vaginal deliveries (Csections assist). Noting, that I usually attract patients that have more difficult and time-consuming medical problems, including prenatal, at times, I prefer not to "see & street" these patients. I do become involved with patients, and noting, that I usually attract patients that have more difficult and time-consuming medical problems, including prenatal, at times, it is my preference not to "see & street" these patients, to the extent that is financially feasible. I do need to work, preferably using my skills and experience as a rural physician. Since Residency completion in 1996, I had been doing ER, inpatient, outpatient, including OB up to mid 2015 in the Tacoma-Seattle area when I was on staff at St Joseph Medical Center, as well as Tacoma General, as well as did inpatient Pediatrics and Adults, working also with 2nd and 3rd year Family Residents. The the last baby I delivered was in a Native clinic urgently requiring placental extraction, s/p cord break in a village clinic, January 2016(that was not safe to transfer until afterwards),.May 2017 to May 2018, I worked in a LTAC-Long Term Acute Care Hospital, as a hospitalist, taking care of sick adults, usually up to 6 weeks or more, working with an interdisciplinary team and Intensivists to get them well enough to go home or to a Skilled Nursing facility. The experience was invaluable, but I missed Family Medicine. From 2019 to last October 2020, worked in Ritzville, WA, a rural small town, predominantly white commuity, where I did outpatient, inpatient, and ER, 350+ miles from home, coming home only on the weekends. My wife of 46 years had a stroke in April 2018. She has gotten better, but continues to have some residual disabilities. My grown daughters, Shani and Joy, have moved in with us since we moved to Arizona in 2020. I do need to continue to work financially, It is my desire to care for people, all ages, including OB, outpatient and inpatient, and if possible, be able to come home. I do care a lot about people, and desire to continue to give all, the best care I can possibly give.Currently, I am working in a maximum security prison that houses men . I thought it that might be a fit, since previously ~20 years +, I had worked as a locum in a prison in Salinas Valley California for 2 months, but after 3 months, I don't feel like it. Despite, many years of caring for many different people, cultures and other, I still care and want people to get the most optimum care desspite their social, economic and other circumstances and I want to continue caring. Unfortunately, in a prison setting, extra caution has to be practiced in trusting people and their word.I have cared for women and children, most of my professional life. In addition to my many years of doing inpatient and outpatient OB, some gyn, I have been honored that my 2 unmarried single adult daughters who don't have children have come back to stay with my wife of 47 years, and myself.La Palma Corretional Center. 10/03/2022 to present. An all male prisoners, some with life sentences. Many have sad backgrounds, but unfortunately they were not able to avoid following destructive ways. Although, some seem to start to soften when one shows kindness, one must always be alert to being drawn in to their games, ways of getting over.Eloy, AZ 85131Gila River Health Care 12/15/2020 to July 1, 2022Outpatient apart of the Internal Medicine Primary Care Dept. Also have Post Covid Clinic, saw Adult and some Pediatrics. Sullivan (928) 769-2909While doing direct patient care (originally the position was designed to be 50/50 Admin, but the effect on staffing was not predicted), supervised medical staff at 2 remote clinics in Northern Arizona, caring for Hualapai and Havasupai tribes (Havasupai tribe (bottom Grand Canyon) reached by mule, hiking and helicopter only). Reviewed resumes, did telephone interviews prospective doctors, spoke to references, and made recommendations for staffing. Both tribes have widespread diabetes with its complications spanning from childhood, through child-bearing years to elders. Worked with Health System Administrator( a non-doctor), Nursing, and Medical staff in considering and trying different approaches to chronic care with the objective of decreasing diabetic complications, especially renal failure, requiring hemodialysis, which forces the patients to travel outside town (Peach Springs), and to need to leave the village of Supai.
