Duties included ordering and keeping a sufficient amount of parts in inventory for all
departments. Duties also included entering work orders into the computer, figuring
month-end budgets, making lead hammers and being responsible for contacting an
electrician or machinist if a breakdown would should occur in the plant.
In December 1994, I was promoted to bindery machine operator after completing a 2 year
apprenticeship program. Duties include overseeing a crew and running and maintaining a
trimmer. This involves reading a job ticket for work instructions on how to make ready
the machine. This includes the correct trim size of product, making sure the product is
defect free for our customer, and shrink-wrapping it for palletizing and shipment. Other
duties include keeping the machine in running order, pulling maintenance as needed and
repairing any breakdowns.
I have also served time on safety committees, PVR teams, 5 S Teams, Emergency Crew
and ISO.
