Senior Test Engineer: Trading Technologies, Chicago, IL (June 2013 June 2014)
Performed manual and automated testing on firms drop copy and order routing FIX Adapter servers.
Ran automated QA testing on all versions of firms FIX Adapter servers, including drop copy, order routing, single
and multi broker modes. Cygwin Bash used to analyze and parse FIX logs. Utilized UNIX commands to tail
specific FIX messages needed to verify functionality being tested. Ran manual testing from scripts or ad-lib,
based on experienced gained through years of FIX protocol use. This included integration testing with all front
end and back end components that are supported with the FIX Adapters. Including all exchange Order, Price and
Fill API s.
Also ran QA testing for the following solutions that are offered by TT: TT User Setup, PS Products and the
XTAPI / RTD API's. Additional duties included adding manual test coverage into Microsoft Test Manager and
automated test coverage to the automation tool scripts. Test coverage added for all bugs, enhancements and
requirements tested for each application. Jira and MKS used to as tracking applications.
Senior FIX Specialist: Trading Technologies, Chicago, IL (September 2006 June 2013)
Provided onboarding, development and certification support to clients creating custom trading applications.
Lead certification tester for client s front and back end applications that connect to our trading systems FIX
Adapters and proprietary API s. Clients were not allowed to connect their applications to the production trading
systems without successfully passing this test. Ensured through thorough and rigid testing, that clients would not
experience financial ruin due to faulty applications. Was able to provide clients with real time troubleshooting of
problematic applications to ease with the process. Prior to formal certification testing, helped manage the
development life cycle of applications with weekly status meetings involving clients. Highly organized in
performing these tasks.
Built an automated certification solution for drop copy clients using VeriFIX and CertiFIX. Certified over 250
client applications. Managed the certification of multiple applications at once.
Acted as the head trading system administrator in managing over five hundred users in the developmental support
environment. This is a simulated trading environment that was used to help with API and FIX onboarding of
clients who are developing their trading applications. Was in charge of setting up all users in our risk system and
load balancing numerous FIX clients across eighty FIX Adapters servers. Configuring the correct exchanges and
FIX specs that would be supported in production environment was necessary for proper client testing.
Prior duties with the DTS department included assisting developers and traders who were building financial
applications that connect to the firms order, price and fill API s. Applications range anywhere from high
frequency black box trading, risk, to simple profit/loss and price display applications.
Thoroughly tested the functionality of all the classes and objects of the XTAPI to help ensure that bugs were
caught in a timely fashion. When a bug or defect was caught, quickly created product change requests and
immediately reported the issue to the firm s engineers. Worked as a liaison between clients and the engineers to
make sure that everyone is aware of possible issues within the XTAPI and the steps that are being taken to correct
the abnormalities.
Spent the first year with the company working as an Application Support Specialist on the Customer Service
Center Desk. Was able to use my industry knowledge and experience as a Trader to quickly assist and resolve live
trading issues that accompanied the use of more than 15 front end client applications.
