Plan, execute and finalize the commissioning, and testing, working with internal IT/systems resources for new build or retrofit automation projects. Own field installation, testing, and troubleshooting through go-live and ramp-up to ensure that deadlines are met, KPI performance metrics are intact to adhere to budget and schedule. Lead all development teams during site launches working side by side with Project Engineering Manager, Systems Engineer, and Commissioning Manager. Work with automation and software suppliers, focusing on new or retrofitted automation, managing all facets of interior installs of cold storage facilities. Support all development teams in launching greenfield automated cold storage sites, working side by side with the local and regional operations/maintenance teams to ensure smooth transition. Support Americold’s local and regional operations and maintenance teams pre-and-post-go live to ensure training, acceptance, ownership, spare parts management, and preventative maintenance occurs for all automated systems. Serve as Subject Matter Expert across software systems (WES/WCS), controls, mechatronics and hardware/devices, applying best practices to improve facility operations and business processes through sustained automation/mechanical reliability, and analytics/metrics development-reporting. Lead cross-functional teams (internal and external) from the commissioning phase through go-live and initial volume ramp-up. Develop and execute project work plans, commissioning schedules, and transition plans in cooperation with the Americold PM & operations teams and the Automation Supplier commissioning teams. Feed the Master PM schedule with commissioning, testing, and resolution plans. Manage integration of mechanical and software systems for new, or modify existing, automated machinery to enable automation of distribution processes for inbound, picking, and outbound operations. Lead/support all major PLC/WES/WCS/WMS and other system conversions to ensure defect free launches for automated warehouses. Understand and troubleshoot any problems in integration of mechanical, electrical, or controls systems to enable rate and cycle time. Augment User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Tests, working with site analysts, project managers, and super-users internal and from external OEM vendors to run all simulations and scripts required to support successful launches and turnovers. Oversee Quality Assurance reviews with operations and supporting technical specification documents received from automation system providers concerning PLC/WES/WCS/WMS. Provide data analysis and data extracts using tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, Jaspersoft. Verify Dashboards and reporting tools during commissioning and start-up of a project. Lead gap analysis of future PLC/WES/WCS/WMS implementations with the Systems Engineer and the Commissioning Manager to identify process performance shortfalls. Ensure the active development, maintenance, and documentation of all PLC/WES/WCS/WMS processes and procedures, adhering to Americold Operating Systems standards including Standard Operating Procedures and/or customer specific processes and procedures. Drive Maintenance and Systems PMs with team leadership to maintain reliability and optimum performance of hardware and software during development, configuration, deployment, error proofing/resolution, and training. Lead, advise, and train associates on the project team as assigned during startup or an automated project.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in industrial and systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field of study and a minimum of five years of experience in the job offered, or as a Systems Analyst. or a related occupation and two years with WMS (exp can be combined or earned with Americold or other sources). Job located in Atlanta, GA and any unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. 40 hours per week. Position requires approximately 75%-80% travel to support projects within the warehouses with extended travel including weekends and evenings as needed. $116,667 to $120,000 per year.
