Position: Mobile Response Paramedic (MRP) Salary Range: $58,989 - $83,000 per year
The Salt Lake City Fire Department (SLCFD) is seeking Medical Response Paramedics to join the team. Under the supervision of an SLCFD Officer and direction from the Medical Division, these positions provide emergency and advanced life support, medical care, and transport to individuals affected by sudden illness or accidents. MRPs work as part of the Mobile Response Team alongside firefighter/EMTs and social workers but have no firefighting duties.

Assignment: MRP will be assigned to SLCFD Station 5 or Station 6 Schedule: 40-hour workweek, with Mon-Wed or Thurs-Sat options First shift day: 14 hours (7:30 am - 9:30 pm) Following two days: 13 hours (7:30 am - 8:30 pm) Retirement: Tier II Utah Firefighter Retirement System Employment Requirements Offers are contingent on a successful background check, with offenses reviewed case-by-case.
Application Process Interested applicants should apply through the City of Salt Lake's online application portal, uploading their NREMT Paramedic certificate or Utah Paramedic license. Candidates are encouraged to apply early as applications will be reviewed monthly until the position is filled. Additionally, candidates must complete the National Testing Network (NTN) FireTEAM Written Exam, which can be scheduled on the NTN website.
Eligibility Requirements Minimum age of 18 Completed paramedic training and NREMT certification Must meet medical requirements per NFPA Standard 1582 Valid driver's license Successful pre-hire physical ability test Maintenance of relevant licensures after hire Testing and Selection Process NTN FireTEAM Written Exam: 20% of final score Oral Board Assessment: 40% Technical Proficiency Evaluation: 30% Resume: 10% Task Performance Assessment for Paramedics (TPA-P): Pass/Fail CPAT certificates are accepted as an alternative to the TPAP. Final scores are ranked, and preference points are added for veterans (5 points) and disabled veterans (10 points).
