Heavy Duty Mechanic Location: CA-AB-High Prairie - T0G 1E0 Jobcode: 2024001 Email Job

We are looking for a proactive Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. Responsibilities include:
•Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, and haul trucks.
•Perform routine maintenance and safety checks.
•Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
•Work efficiently under minimal supervision and ensure equipment meets safety standards.
•Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, replaces and tests all components of gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines, engine starting systems, wheels, tracks, steering and braking systems.
•Inspects, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, replaces and tests all components of clutches, hydraulic couplings/pumps, booms, cables, blades and buckets. transmissions, transfer cases and axle assemblies.
•Inspects, repairs, overhauls and re-assembles electrical components such as alternators, distributors, starters, relays and solenoids, etc.
•Prepares work estimates of labour and parts costs; writes service reports.
•Interprets technical manuals relating to manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.
•Keeps minor records.
•Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS.
•Mechanical Aptitude – Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electrical systems.
•Diagnostic Skills – Ability to identify issues with heavy equipment and troubleshoot effectively.
•Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with specialized repair tools and equipment, and ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
•Safety Awareness – Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in heavy-duty mechanics.
• Problem-solving – Ability to resolve issues independently.
•Physical Stamina – Capable of lifting heavy objects and performing physical tasks.
•Communication – Effective at documenting work and communicating with team members.
Security and safety
•Basic security clearance
Qualifications:
•3+ years of experience (1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year apprentices welcome)
•Strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
