Medical Response Paramedic Job Posting
Position: Mobile Response Paramedics (MRPs) Salary Range: $58,989/year - $83,000/year
Join our team as a Medical Response Paramedic with Salt Lake City Fire Department! Under the supervision of an SLCFD Officer and Medical Division personnel, MRPs provide basic emergency and advanced life support, medical care, and transport to victims at emergency scenes. This role does not involve firefighting duties.
MRPs will collaborate with firefighter/EMTs and social workers (Community Health Access Team) on the Mobile Response Team.
Assignments: SLCFD Station 5 or Station 6 Schedule: 40-hour work week, either Mon-Wed or Thurs-Sat Shift Hours: First day: 14 hours (7:30 am - 9:30 pm); following days: 13 hours (7:30 am - 8:30 pm) These roles are part of the Tier II Utah Firefighter Retirement System.
Employment offers are contingent upon a successful criminal background check. Criminal records are reviewed individually and do not automatically disqualify candidates.
Application Process To apply, candidates should complete the online application in Workday and upload their NREMT Paramedic certificate or Utah Paramedic license. A DD-214 may also be submitted if applicable.
Applications are encouraged early. Open until July 1, 2025, with monthly outreach to qualified applicants.
Applicants must also complete the National Testing Network (NTN) FireTEAM Written Exam. Only candidates who complete both the Workday application and NTN Written Exam may proceed in the selection process.

Paramedic technical assessment Physical ability exam (TPA-P) Oral board interview at the SLC Public Safety Building Eligibility Requirements At least 18 years of age Completed paramedic training with current NREMT certification Meets NFPA Standard 1582 medical condition requirements Valid drivers license Pre-hire physical ability test completion Testing Process NTN FireTEAM Written Exam 20% Oral Board Assessment 40% Technical Proficiency Evaluation 30% Resume 10% Task Performance Assessment (TPA-P) Pass/Fail Valid CPAT certificates are also accepted in place of TPAP.
Scoring and Ranking Final scores combine written exam, oral board assessment, technical evaluation, and resume. Rankings are based on total scores, with preference points for veterans (5 points) and disabled veterans (10 points).
