PCS Structural Solutions, Inc. seeks Structural Design Engineer in Tacoma, WA to provide structural engineering and design for projects at the conceptual stage through project closeout. Manage project, scope, budget, schedule. Work with clients and staff to problem-solve various structural solutions. To be specific:

• Analyze project objectives and conduct structural calculations and design using various building materials including Steel, Concrete, and Cold-formed Steel

• Utilize computer software such as RISA, RAM, Etabs, or SAFE to design structural elements for each project.

• Ensure the compliance of completed projects with local codes, regulations, and quality standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE).

• Perform structural evaluation of existing buildings and transportation structures and provide rehabilitation recommendations.

• Manage projects, including tracking budgets and maintaining a comprehensive database of project details and progress.

• Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders during the early stages of projects, especially large-scale projects (schools, hospital campuses, commercial buildings, etc.) and provide input for campus or facility master planning and schematic design.

• Generate detailed design sketches, work directly within CAD or Revit, and collaborate with design staff to create 3-D models and design drawings, utilizing knowledge in Building Information Modeling and Processing.

• Analyze and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures to withstand seismic forces, leveraging your proficiency in structural seismic design and familiarity with related building codes to ensure safety and compliance.

• Coordinate staffing and roles for construction services, ensuring the proper balance between client service and scope management. Monitor and review shop drawings, submittals, and construction observation processes.

Master’s degree in civil engineering, or related field. Must have passed the FE Civil exam (EIT) and the Principles and Practices of Engineering exam (PE) by NCESS. Graduate academic studies must have included coursework covering Rehabilitation of Transportation Structures, Cold-formed Steel Structure, FE Analysis of Structures, Building Information Modeling (BIM) with Revit and Design for Seismic Loads. No experience required.
