Position Title: Police Officer Salary Information: $31.65 - $39.64 Hourly
Benefit Information: Health Benefits: Employees pay 15% of the monthly premium for medical insurance through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which includes prescription coverage. Both single and family coverage options are available. The city offers a high-deductible healthcare plan, and coverage eligibility begins on the first of the month following the start date or on the start date if employment begins on the first of the month.
Health Savings Account: The city deposits 75% of the insurance deductible into an HSA account if the employee participates in an annual wellness screening. If not, the city deposits 50%.
Dental: The city pays up to $30 per month, covering half of the full premium.
Life Insurance: The city covers 100% of the premium for term life insurance for full-time employees. Employees receive $25,000 of coverage, while supervisors receive $35,000.
Retirement Pension: The city contributes 19.5% monthly toward retirement benefits through the Ohio Police and Fire Pension System (OPF). Employees contribute 12.25% of their gross salary.
Retirement Savings: Employees may enroll in a voluntary retirement savings plan, including options like a 457(b) deferred compensation plan or a Roth IRA.
Vacation: New full-time employees accumulate 80 hours after one year of service. Accrual increases with years of service, up to a maximum of 208 hours per year.
Sick Leave: Accrues at approximately 15 days per year (0.0575 hours per hour).
Personal Leave: Employees receive two personal days (16 hours) per year.
Holidays: The city allots 96 holiday hours per year.
Fitness Center: 24/7 access to a fitness center located in City Hall with cardio and resistance machines, as well as free weights.
Experience Pay: Starts after five years of service, providing additional compensation to employees with five or more years of service.
Tuition Reimbursement: Eligible for all full-time employees after one year of continuous service, subject to policy terms.
Uniform Allowance: New officers receive a complete uniform and necessary equipment at no cost 90 days after hire. After one year, the city provides a $60 uniform allowance per pay period.
Job Description Responsible for the protection of life and property, and law enforcement. Duties include patrol, traffic, and crime investigation on assigned shifts (40 hours per week, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required).

Use interpersonal skills to manage conflict. Train to use firearms and other weapons. Maintain stability in stressful and violent situations. Write complete and accurate reports. Possess physical ability to meet Ohio Police Officer Training Academy standards. Qualifications Age: Must be 20 at application; 21 by the time of academy completion or appointment if already a certified Ohio peace officer. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Physical: Must have 20/20 corrected eyesight; weight should be proportionate to height. Must possess overall ability to perform all essential job functions.
