Portland, Maine: We invite an experienced Critical Care/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the thriving Cardiothoracic Surgery division of Maines largest hospital. An ideal candidate will have at least three years of critical care experience, and an interest in cardiology and/or surgery. Become part of a successful comprehensive Cardiac Surgery program that manages 1200+ cases annually! You will join a big team (6 Cardiac Surgeons & 18 NP/PAs) and provide inpatient care for post-op cardiac surgery patients in an adult ICU setting, and occasionally in a step-down/intermediate care unit. APPs here work closely with the Surgeons and the Cardiovascular Critical Care Intensivists, getting a high level of autonomy as they provide the highest quality of care. The goal will be for you to attain full privileges to perform bedside procedures independently!
You will work a schedule of three 12-hour shifts/week in the Cardiothoracic ICU (days and nights) or four 10-hour shifts when its your turn to cover the Intermediate Care Unit.
This surgical program is at the forefront of minimally invasive valve platforms (such as TAVR and advanced heart failure treatments, including ECMO and VADs).
