Help foster student success! As our AmeriCorps VISTA at Volunteers in Public Schools you will devise a plan to share the vision of the North Baton Rouge AIM Program to schools and faith based organizations. Great opportunity for someone who loves to build relationships in the community and work with volunteer teams.





The AIM Grant Coordinator will serve to mobilize plans to recruit faith based organizations to meet program goals and increase participation in grant application submission. The VISTA member will implement the program by overseeing the granting process as well as follow up procedures to ensure the selected faith based organizations have the resources and tools to effectively complete the project.

Living Allowance (bi-weekly stipend of $479.08) and End of Service Allowance OR Education Award (lump sum given at end of service to school or program of choice based on VISTA guidelines)





Specific Duties:




  • Meet with Executive Director and staff for extensive orientation

  • Create three marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and goal sheets to share the vision with North Baton Rouge faith based organizations and schools

  • Visit compiled list of faith based organizations in the community to learn their dynamics and to become acquainted with the leadership

  • Create and administer pre and post surveys and grant applications with faith based leaders to demonstrate a greater familiarity of the problem, increase knowledge on ways to get involved, and to serve as a guide in application completion

  • Answer questions regarding the grant application process and the overall project

  • Assemble and lead diverse Selection Team to score the applications from pre-designed rubric and help select the three faith based organizations

  • Assist the designated churches in choosing Team Leaders

  • Gather the (3) Team Leaders, possible alternates and staff for collaborative information sessions to discuss collected data and next steps

  • Introduce the Team Leaders to the school principals at the schools the volunteers will tutor

  • Guide Team Leaders in their recruitment efforts

  • Organize two volunteer appreciation events for program volunteers

  • Create a RSVP process to predict number of attendees

  • Meet with staff to plan theme, location, and agenda; Create an event agenda that includes set up times, event activity times, speakers, and event closing

  • Serve as liaison between staff and faith based organizations

  • Train Team Leaders on how to report for the grant, follow procedures, and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner

  • Schedule meetings with faith based organizations, principals and volunteers to gather feedback on the progress of the project and to discuss any concerns and suggestions

  • Keep current records of contacts and communication between all entities

  • Submit a Project Summary at the end of service that can be used for future reference



Required Documents:

Skills Needed:



Computer literate, Microsoft Suite



Great communication skills



Experience in building community partnerships



Working with volunteers and/or teams
