Job Title: Process Operator
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Schedule: Rotating 12/hr. shifts, 24/7 operation
MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. is an expanding and stable chemical manufacturing company located in Forest Grove, OR. We are looking for a qualified Process Operators to join our team.
Overview
Responsible for various functions and activities related to the operation of the Production Department, including but not limited to raw material delivery, process operations, packaging, sampling and maintenance
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring strict compliance with the Company’s safety policies and procedures, taking immediate corrective action in the event a potential issue or unsafe behavior is observed
- Ensuring proper pass down by providing effective written and oral communications to the relieving shift that cover routine and non-routine issues, problems faced, operating conditions, etc.
- Pulls all samples throughout all processes and delivers samples to the lab.
- Performs some maintenance, works with outside vendors when on site performing maintenance, checks condition when maintenance is completed.
- Monitoring and accurately recording temperatures, pressures and rates of flow for upward or downward trends
- Utilizing process control computer interfaces to maintain variables within target rates
- Perform required production quality control checks and Ensuring that plant purification parameters are in spec
- Assist in the troubleshooting of potential issues while providing assistance to others when problems occur
- Ensuring documentation is in accordance with policies and procedures
- Communicating with engineers, maintenance technicians, Lab Technicians and other team members to assist in identifying maintenance issues and planning and scheduling maintenance activities
- Actively assuming personal accountability for meeting the Company’s standards of continuous personal and professional development
- Participating in training and responding to emergency situations as required
- Actively complying with all operating policies and procedures
- Ensuring that work stations are free from hazardous materials
- Awareness of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards
- Performs other duties as requested and assigned
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently and understand operation procedures
- Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle
- Willingness to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation
- Willingness to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, walk on high elevation grating, work in inclement weather, work around loud industrial equipment, and work outdoors with reasonable accommodations
- Willingness to support and comply with MPCA safety policies and initiatives
- Willingness to work in an environment that requires the daily use of computers
- Willingness to work a 12-hour shift schedule; which will require work at night, and on occasional holidays
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test examination
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of current experience as a Process/Production Operator in a chemical work environment.
