POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Accounting Associate will provide Tax Compliance support to the Corporate Finance Department and work closely with both the Assistant Manager of Corporate and Director of Corporate Finance. The successful candidate will recommend tax strategies by researching, interpreting, and implementing tax laws. This position reports to the Director of Corporate Finance or another member of senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. This position is located in Irvine, California and working hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews federal, state, and local tax documents by preparing property tax returns, state pages, and federal, state, and municipal returns, extensions, and quarterly payments.
- Prepares tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating provision schedules.
- Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
- Maintains legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws.
- Maintains compliance with regulations (sales tax, payroll tax, and multi-state property tax) by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.
- Revises procedures by developing and streamlining procedures and worksheets for calculation of tax provisions.
- Identifies profitability of potential mergers and acquisitions by analyzing tax information; calculating key ratios; identifying areas of tax savings.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or another business-related field
- Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and IFRS
- Experience with mid to large scale organization required
- Ability to work in a team environment, multi-task and prioritize
