Duties: The World Wide Cost Accounting Manager at Amphastar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, CA will lead complex inventory costing for Amphastar companies, including detail material, labor and overhead costs and ensuring costing meets US GAAP, local statutory accounting; and tax standards. Ensure proper accounting for inventory reserve analysis such as Lower of Cost or Net Realizable Value, Pre-Launch Inventory and Excess and Obsolete. Review journal entries and account reconciliations. Ensure that cost of goods is properly recorded at all Amphastar companies. Analyze facility capacity to properly report overhead absorption and related underutilization of facilities. Collaborate with R&D teams, operations, and supply chain of multiple entities to identify potential inventory exposure and communicate these to management for resolution. Plan, organize, and monitor the progress, completion, and adherence to company policies of physical inventory counts at year-end. Provide support to tax department for filing tax returns and for transfer price studies. Provide support to forecasting group to develop projected costs and variance analysis. Act as the key process owner by establishing inventory internal controls and guidelines for preparing transactions that comply with GAAP. Ensure that the cost accounting department is in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Assist with various costing projects as assigned. Supervise US cost accounting staff and provide oversight of cost accounting staff outside the US. Utilize IBMi, Microsoft Excel, and Access for various costing projects. Salary Range: $130,000 to $160,000 annually. Minimum Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field plus 5 years’ experience in an accountant or related occupation and 5 years’ experience with financial reporting or costing process for manufacturing companies. Must have at least 1 year of experience with each of the following: (1) performing complex inventory revaluations and calculating manufactured product costs (material, labor, overhead, capacity); (2) manufacturing accounting ERP, (Oracle, SAP, IBM Cognos, or IBMi AS400) to retrieve and analyze operational or financial data; and (3) participating in Internal and external audits for pharmaceutical companies.
