Emma Willard School (Troy, NY) seeks French Language Teacher to teach French I – V. Foster students’ French speaking, reading and writing skills through an engaging class environment. Use innovative learning tools, techniques and technologies to create confident language learners. Facilitate exploration of cultural components of language learning. Create daily lesson plans. Work with department chair and faculty to design, review and implement integrated curriculum. Create, administer and grade assessments. Use online learning management system to track assignments, attendance and grades. Identify struggling students and provide individualized support. Compose quarterly student comments. Share progress reports with students, advisors, parents and houseparents. Participate in school-wide events. Attend and contribute to departmental, faculty, and all- staff meetings and professional development trainings. With department chair, develop individual professional growth plan. Promote and nurture diversity, equity, and inclusion. Reside in school housing. Responsible for one of the following weekly obligations, as assigned by the School: dorm affiliate (3.5 hours per week), library duty (2 hours per week), or proctored study hall (2 hours per week). Supervise and assist with student study hours. Transport students to and from Capital District transportation hubs for school breaks, long weekends, and the beginning and end of the school year. Responsible for weekend campus duty at least 4 times per-year, including one long weekend: supervise and lead 3-4 activities per weekend and eat two meals per day on campus with students. Requires Bachelor’s Degree in French, Education or a related field, and 2 yrs. exp. as a High School Foreign Language Teacher. Requires fluency in French demonstrated by a high school or university diploma from a Francophone or bilingual French-English program, or an equivalent credential. Must be able, willing and available to meet weekly obligations (dorm affiliate, library duty or proctored study hall), transport students, and perform weekend campus duty, as described.
