Bright Flag Recruiting is seeking a full-time Diesel Mechanic in Cookville, TN.  

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for providing timely, quality and cost-effective repairs and maintenance for a family-owned company’s fleet of FedEx trucks. The typical workload includes completing preventative maintenance and major repairs for 11 Freightliner trucks in a well-equipped shop environment. Your own hand tools are required, specialized tools are provided. 

Schedule & Benefits 

• Hourly pay between $32-38 per hour commensurate with experience 

• Typical Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm schedule, but flexibility for occasional late-night and weekend hours required

Responsibilities 

• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with vehicles and plan repairs 

• Conduct preventative inspections with engine/transmissions, tires, belts, hoses, brakes, alignments, A/C, rotors, oil changes, electronics/VEDR camera systems etc. and schedule and complete preventative maintenance as necessary 

• Perform major and minor mechanical and body repairs on trucks 

• Communicate with company ownership and FedEx operations managers to schedule and complete major repairs 

• Collaborate with management to maintain parts inventory, and communicate needs to appropriate personnel 

• Maintain accurate records of repairs performed on all vehicles 

• Complete other assigned duties as required 

Qualifications 

• 5+ years of experience performing maintenance on medium to large trucks preferred OR vehicle maintenance certification from an accredited vocational or trade school OR a mix of both 

• Foreman / leadership skills a huge plus! (This position requires the ability to effectively manage yourself) 

• Active CDL A license a plus but not required 

• Certifications such as ASE preferred but not required 

• Proficiency in maintenance programs and diagnostic systems strongly preferred 

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
