Job Overview:

The consulting business of Oliver Wyman offers a dynamic and fast-growing environment with an excellent team spirit. The Knowledge Services (KS) team comprises an international team of 180 staff providing Research and Knowledge Management support to consultant teams globally. The Research team supports our firm by planning and executing research projects for our consulting teams to create high impact solutions for our clients. This work includes the interpretation, evaluation, and preparation of results.

We are looking for an experienced researcher at the Research Associate or Research Analyst level, to join our team who will support our consultants by sourcing and synthesizing market data, industry developments and company information necessary for the successful execution of client projects and business development initiatives.

You will have strong secondary research skills and the ability to quickly develop knowledge of multiple research tools to facilitate effective and creative research. Over time, you will develop increased industry specialization. You will help consultants scope and develop their projects research needs, conduct timely, accurate, creative, and cost-effective research for those focused needs, and deliver compelling summarized end products which will include some analysis. The role will also require you to provide ad hoc and programmatic analysis of key business drivers related to sector themes across industries in support of both client and business development. You should be focused on contributing high impact deliverable for our clients and internal teams.

You may provide training and mentoring opportunities to more junior research colleagues. You will be encouraged to take advantage of our firms learning and development curriculum for ongoing professional development.



Key Responsibilities:

Scope and develop project research needs, conduct timely, accurate and cost-effective research.
Deliver compelling well-synthesized research deliverables created from multiple sources that glean key concepts and trends.
Conduct selected primary research as required - includes mystery shopping, expert interviews, conference attendance and notes, facilitating access to primary research capabilities.
Work within the framework of the Asia Pacific based team, sharing work and experience, and helping build the Research function in the region.
Collaborate with consultants engaged in client service, business development or knowledge/intellectual capital building by delivering highly relevant and well-synthesized research. Manage large data sets, conduct data analyses and build/validate models.
Develop strong trusted relationships with consultants and research colleagues to promote effective knowledge sharing and positive work environment.
Take ownership and lead customized research products / services, including identifying opportunities for customized research products / services, sector/company fact packs, benchmarks, trend analysis or support for Oliver Wyman reports.
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills. You will need to excel at sharing ideas with both our internal clients and colleagues in our global Knowledge Services team.
Assist in the education and training of the consulting staff both with research issues, and with end-user training specifically.



Person Specification:

2-5 years of prior experience as a research professional at a management consultancy, technology firm, investment bank, private equity firm, asset manager, or research specialist provider
Knowledge of the Asia Pacific market.
Solid problem-solving skills and inquisitive nature allowing you to deliver an effective research product ensuring your credibility as a trusted team member.
Excellent research synthesis skills allowing you to draw out key insights and to provide basic data analysis.
Advanced Excel and PPT skills.
Familiarity with Preqin, Pitchbook, LSEG-Eikon-Refinitiv, S&P Capital IQ and similar market data resources.
Strong technical aptitude - knowledge of Python, Web Scraping beneficial.



Skills and Attributes
:
Fluency in English. Business proficiency in Japanese is a must.
