Joby Aero, Inc. San Carlos CA seeks Manufacturing Engineer (multiple positions & may telecommute)

Under the direct supervision of the Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Lead, the Manufacturing Engineer will:

1. Lead process development efforts using statistical methods such as process capability characterization, gauge repeatability and reproducibility, and design of experiments. (10% of time)

2. Generate process flow, failure mode effects analysis, and inspection methodology for new products. (10% of time)

3. Collaborate with Design, Supplier Industrial Engineering, Quality, and Operations

4. Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback to shape next-generation high volume products (10% of time)

5. Develop and modify existing line layouts and processes to improve material flow, waste reduction, safety, and ergonomics by utilizing Lean Manufacturing best practice (20% of time)

6. Develop work instructions to build and test flight-worthy components and systems (15% of time)

7. Identify and procure the necessary equipment to perform functional End Of Line testing (20% of time)

8. Develop and implement certification plans for novel manufacturing technologies (10% of time)

9. Contribute to the development of the aircraft maintenance manual (5% of time)

Telecommuting from anywhere within the U.S. is permitted.

Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree and two (2) years of experience as Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineer, or related.

Must have some experience in:

1. FAA Type Certification Criteria and Process

2. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Principles

3. Strong Understanding of GD&T

4. Electronic certifications Such as IPC-610 and J-STD-001

5. Lean Manufacturing Methodologies

$88,629 - $95,000 per year. Standard Benefits/401k. Hours: 8 am to 5
