Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Piping and Structural Designer/Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers to design and draw complete details of seawater and brackish water reverse osmosis systems. This role requires a strong ability to visualize 3D spaces, proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D, and experience in the water treatment industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Design various reverse osmosis plant layouts in 3D and transfer information to 2D sketches

- Produce designs for equipment/piping, piping tie-ins, equipment arrangement drawings, bill of materials (BOM), piping supports, steel tanks, access walkways, and other fabricated items

- Work with Design/Project Engineers to finalize and modify design concepts

- Specify appropriate instrumentation, valves, pumps, and piping to complete mechanical designs

- Revise plans as requested by Design/Project engineers

- Adhere to department standards for all drawings

- Contact vendors and obtain relevant equipment drawings when necessary

- Collaborate with field crews to problem-solve and design "on the fly" solutions

- Conduct site visits to water treatment sites or fabrication facilities for measurements, meetings, or photography

- Produce complete design packages including equipment layout, pipe routing, and piping/supports

- Create accurate and timely reproductions

- Modify parameter files within Autodesk Plant 3D to meet project requirements

- Other related duties as assigned

Required Experience/Skills

- Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D (will be tested), Autodesk Vault, Autodesk AutoCAD, and general PC usage

- Ability to produce drawings using drafting techniques outlined in department SPO

- Capable of producing designs from general design concepts

- Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret various forms of instructions

- Ability to produce complete Bills of Material for drawings

- Experience with mechanical design of various piping materials including PVC, stainless steel, and FRP

- Experience with design of mechanical support systems for piping, valves, pumps, and instrumentation

Education and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering or CAD discipline preferred

- Minimum 3-5 years of professional work experience highly preferred

- Relevant experience in the water treatment industry, including reverse-osmosis system design

- Sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) experience highly preferred

Nice-to-Haves

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Projects

- Advanced skills in 3D modeling and visualization

- Experience with large-scale industrial projects

- Knowledge of international design standards and codes
