AIR Worldwide Corporation seeks a Senior Engineer in Boston, MA.

Duties:

Data acquisition, data management and data analyses to understand building inventory and its vulnerability subjected to atmospheric based hazards including hurricane winds, storm surge, riverine flooding, tornadoes, hail storms, winter storms, at any interested region worldwide. Development of vulnerability functions and monetary loss curves for structural and non-structural components of traditional buildings including loss curves for contents and business interruption subjected to the aforementioned hazards for the regions of interest. Development of vulnerability functions for specialty risks including industrial facilities, infrastructure, marine subject to the aforementioned hazards for regions of interest. Implement research of building vulnerability into Verisk’s portfolio risk analysis models, and validate its probabilistic risk assessment. Real time damage and loss assessment due to natural catastrophes from some of the aforementioned atmospheric perils worldwide. Work on consulting projects in collaboration with agencies including the World Bank and Verisk's client companies with extremely targeted goals and timelines. Supervise work of a team of Engineers and/or Senior Engineers, including conducting performance reviews, handling disciplinary issues, and working with HR on hiring and firing decisions. Telecommuting position that can be performed from anywhere in the United States.

Requires a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Risk Analysis or a related field. Additionally, this position requires knowledge or experience in all of the following which could be gained through study, internships, or work experience: - Risk and reliability analysis; - Programming; - Data acquisition, data management and data analyses; - Understanding vulnerability of buildings to extreme events; - Creating frameworks or models; and - Communication including technical writing and speaking to diverse audiences.

This telecommuting position can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
