Position Purpose: This role is integral to providing dedicated ambulance support at our partner hospitals, focusing on facilities with highly acute patient populations. The Advanced Practice Paramedic delivers enhanced care and treatment to acutely ill and injured patients during inter-hospital transfers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Functions:

Provide high-level customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor.
Adhere to St. Anthony Hospital System and Denver Metro EMS Protocols.
Maintain current certifications, including specialized training in Ketamine & Tranexamic acid (TXA).
Rapidly respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, making critical care decisions.
Effectively communicate patient information and differential diagnoses to hospital staff.
Operate ambulances in diverse weather and traffic conditions.
Ensure accurate documentation after each response call.
Demonstrate compassion and respect for all patients and customers.
Collaborate effectively within a team dynamic.
Advanced Practice Paramedic Functions:

Support hospital staff with dedicated ambulance resources.
Build rapport and recognition within the emergency department/hospital environment.
Coordinate with hospital and dispatch to ensure efficient ambulance transport.
Facilitate rapid transport for critical cases to enhance trauma, stroke, and STEMI care timelines.
Complete transports within scheduled shifts, understanding occasional extended hours.
Innovate and implement service improvements within assigned hospital locations.
Participate in ongoing education and expanded scope of practice initiatives.
Collaborate with healthcare agencies to optimize integrated care networks.
Handle challenging logistics for rural transport needs.
Mentor and train new hires within advanced practice paramedicine.
Equipment Management and Maintenance:

Maintain readiness and cleanliness of ambulance equipment.
Ensure clinical competency with advanced medical equipment and procedures.
COMMUNICATION/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Collaborate closely with EMTs, Paramedics, and dispatchers.
External: Interact with hospitals, patients, and other transportation agencies.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:

Receive supervision from operations managers/supervisors.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Exposure to elements and extreme temperatures.
Work under high physical, mental, and emotional stress.
Heavy lifting and extensive physical activity required.
Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, pathogens, and emergency hazards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required.
Colorado State Paramedic certification.
ACLS & PALS Certification.
Valid Drivers License with insurable driving record.
EVOC certificate.
2 years of Paramedic experience preferred, with hospital experience.
SCHEDULE:

12-hour shifts, alternating Sundays through Wednesdays or Thursdays through Saturdays.
