2nd Shift Supervisor (Machinist - Working Foreman) 

 



Integrated Machinery Solutions (IMS) is currently seeking an experienced people-oriented leader with CNC machining experience to direct and be hands on in nightly operations and machining projects.  Ideal candidate will have 10 years of CNC machining experience and programming skills as well as previous supervisory/management or lead experience.  Fabrication experience is a plus.



Position Overview

 



This position works under minimal supervision and is responsible for managing associates in the manufacturing of all materials/products throughout the manufacturing facility.  Coordinates with first shift management, engineering, and quality to ensure second shift manufacturing is efficiency producing product per the manufacturing plan.

 



Key Responsibilities and Duties:




  • Take ownership of second shift production

  • Plan production operations, while establishing priorities and sequencing for manufacturing products

  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications

  • Develop shop schedule and ensure projects are completed accordingly

  • Monitor performance to track progress

  • Monitor scheduled vs. actual work to ensure that targets are met

  • Assign/adjust schedules and/or personnel to balance and expedite work

  • Ensure that second shift employees have assignments prior to shift start (such as programs, cutting tools, instructions, expectations of completion time)

  • Run machine(s) when not completing other duties

  • Provide technical support to shift employees to keep them running efficiently

  • Make technical decisions (with appropriate input) to maintain production

  • Work from blueprints and technical drawings

  • Set up, program, and edit of CNC program

  • Provide technical notes from shift change over to first

  • Reassign employee to another machine or project if the one they are on becomes held up

  • Be accountable for achieving goals for safety, production, quality, shop discipline

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

  • Ensure that second shift employees have completed all documentation

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs

  • Ensure each team member meets or exceeds daily production and productivity objectives

  • Effectively communicate departmental and company wide goals to employees in a productive manner

  • Initiate any performance improvement or disciplinary actions with second shift employees

  • Assist with coaching/development of employees

  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Responsible for enforcing all IMS policies and procedures, which includes safety, housekeeping, attendance, quality and administrative

  • Works with Human Resources to select, interview and hire personnel and resolve personnel problems by investigating issues and identifying solutions

  • Perform other duties and specific projects as assigned.



Qualifications:




  • High school diploma or equivalency diploma

  • Trade school or apprenticeship completion

  • Must be able to set up, program and make edits to CNC programs

  • 10+ years of CNC machining

  • 5 + years of supervisory or lead experience in Manufacturing



Work Environment:



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear.  The job requires frequently sitting, use of hands and fingers to handle, or feel, or push and pull, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
