Description:

AHL Healthcare Group is seeking a Mental Health Professional to build, structure, implement, and supervise services for persons with disabilities in the Duluth Minnesota area. The MHP/Positive Support Professional writes and/or signs off on Individual Treatment Plans and trains appropriate staff for implementation. The MHP develops and provides services that improve mental health, independent living skills, and personal needs of clients. They analyze and provide monthly reports from the data compiled. The MHP is responsible for assisting clients with symptom management, self-care, communication skills, community living and mobility, reduction /elimination of maladaptive behavior, sensory/motor development and socialization. This position oversees behavior services for our community-based services program BRIDGES to Success, as well as starting/structuring an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) we will be opening in the next few months.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Provide clinical supervision and oversight to staff delivering Mental Health and Positive Support Services.


• Conduct functional assessments, diagnostic assessments, admission assessments, LOCUS (Level of Care Utilization System), and/or any other assessments required in conjuction with service start-up and/or delivery to a recipient.


• Participates in evaluating appropriateness of referrals to the program.


• Write and/or approve Support Plan/Individual Treatment Plans assuring person-centered programming for individuals to maintain or improve treatment of mental illness and/or areas of independent living such as behavior management, budgeting, maintaining services, meal prep/planning, employment, symptom management, etc.


• Provides education and training to employees or caregivers who implement the support plan/ITP.


• Review daily documentation and provide feedback and/or revisions to the care plan/ITP as necessary.


• Analyze data, identifying appropriate data collection methodology.


• Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observations, concerns, and asking appropriate questions.


• Document required MHP/PSP notes in the client record as needed; outlining current status, risk factors, and suitability for treatment.


• Actively facilitates and participates in team meetings, staff meetings, and service planning meetings.


• Meet or exceed billable time target goal of 80%


• Collaborates with Clinical Supervisor / Program Managers to to assure program options which increase opportunities for employment, social integration and independent living.


• Direct and assist in service delivery to meet the clients level of behavioral, emotional, and physical needs. This includes, but is not limited to: working 1:1 with a client, leading groups, assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, grooming, nutrition, health care, support services, use of specialized equipment, etc.


• Review policy/procedures and make suggested revisions as needed.


• Participate in the program evaluation process, utilizing results to identify needs, establish goals and directions for future planning.


• Report improper or suspicious behavior, misconduct of co-workers, abuse or neglect of residents internally to the DOS, or externally to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center within 24 hours of becoming aware of the incident.

A Mental Health professional must have competencies in areas related to:

• Behavior reduction/elimination strategies that promote least restrictive approved alternatives


• Co-occurring mental health or neurocognitive disorders


• Data collection, tracking and reporting


• Demonstrated expertise with populations being served


• Ethical considerations related to behavioral services


• Functional analysis


• Functional assessment


• Measurement of behavior and interpretation of data


• Identifying desired outcomes


• Selecting intervention strategies to achieve desired outcomes


• Staff/caregiver training


• Support plan monitoring and revisions.


• Supervisory experience


• Proficient computer skills

Requirements:

The waiver behavior professional must also meet one of the following six sets of criteria:

• A registered nurse who is licensed under sections 148.171 to 148.285; and 1) who is certified as a clinical specialist or as a nurse practitioner in adult or family psychiatric and mental health nursing by a national nurse certification organization; or 2) who has a master's degree in nursing or one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university or its equivalent, with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness;

• An individual licensed by the Board of Psychology under sections 148.88 to 148.98 who has stated to the Board of Psychology competencies in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness;


• A physician licensed under chapter 147 and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligible for board certification in psychiatry, or an osteopathic physician licensed under chapter 147 and certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry or eligible for board certification in psychiatry;


• A marriage and family therapist licensed under sections 148B.29 to 148B.39 with at least two years of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness


• A licensed professional clinical counselor under section 148B.5301 with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness; or


• A person with a master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields, with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness.


• A person licensed as an independent clinical social worker under chapter 148D, or a person with a master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university, with at least 4,000 hours of post-master's supervised experience in the delivery of clinical services in the treatment of mental illness;
