Joby Aero, Inc. San Carlos CA seeks Staff Power Electronics Engineer (multiple positions)

Under the direct supervision of the Power Electronics Engineer, the Staff Power Electronics Engineer

will:

1. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to optimize placement of high-power modules/components and bus bars.

2. Create clear and readable schematics for power electronics boards.

3. Component selection for minimum mass and maximum reliability.

4. Work with PCB designers to create reliable and low-weight layouts.

5. Write requirements, participate in DFMEAs, create and carry out test and validation plans.

6. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams and contribute towards the design of prototype motor-control inverters and DC/DCs from 0.5-200 kW.

BS in EE or closely related required. Five (5) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Hardware Design Engineer, or closely related occupation

Must have some experience in:

1. High Power AC-DC & DC-DC Power supply design;

2. Experience in the design of safety-critical, low noise and high precision power supplies;

3. High Voltage, High Current and high frequency switching;

4. Power Electronics Product design;

5. Analog, logic and mixed signal circuit design, analysis and simulation using SPICE, Simplorer, Saber, or similar; and

6. Simulation Software (MATLAB & LTspice).
