OUR CLIENT
The VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System (VAGLAHS) provide health care services at 11 locations in a 5-county area of southern California. Facilities include our West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and our Sepulveda VA Medical Center. There are 9 community-based outpatient clinics in Arcadia, Bakersfield, Commerce, Lancaster, Los Angeles, Oxnard, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Santa Maria. The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is one of the leading health care systems serving Veterans in the VA Desert Pacific Network. They are an innovative care center within the Veterans Integrated Service Network 22 (VISN 22). VISN 22 includes medical centers and clinics in Arizona, California, Colorado, and New Mexico.
WE OFFER:
• 2 WEEKS VACATION ACRUAL
• 56 HOURS SICK TIME ACRUAL
• 11 PAID LEGAL HOLIDAYS AS THEY FALL

Full-Time -Mon to Fri - 8am to 430pm
Pay: $72-$75 Hourly

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
*** POSITION CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD ***
The Nurse Practitioner will participate in the care of inpatient and outpatient clients in support of the VAGLAHS’s Ventura Community Base Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Provides diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and follow-up patient care.
• Executes position responsibilities independently and collaboratively in accordance with the scope and Standards of Nursing Practice within the specialty area.
• Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff.
• Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues while administering quality patient care.
• Demonstrate advanced assessment and decision-making skills.
• Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations.

• Documents care/visit in CPRS appropriately, accurately, and concisely. Utilizes POE.
• Follows clinical guidelines and standards of practice as provided by VAGLAHS for health promotion, maintenance, and illness prevention.
• Completes health histories and other clinical documentation consistently and with pertinent information.
• Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
• Care and treatment plans are consistent with assessments. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests appropriately.
• Selects/furnishes (prescribes) or recommends pharmacological agents and durable medical equipment appropriately.
• Sets priorities to provide care in an organized and timely manner.
• Presents cases in a concise, organized manner. Participates in professional development.
• Evaluates own performance according to the Advance Practice Nurse (APN) Scope of Practice standards of professional and regulatory bodies and takes actions to improve practice.
• Maintains mandatory requirements and competency standards.
• Treats staff, patients and family with respect and dignity.
• Uses clinical research techniques in decision-making and in making recommendations. Identifies and documents appropriate International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding for patient encounters.
• Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
• Complies with performance measures identified by VA Central Office
• Complies with safety, patient guidelines, and other regulatory requirements as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduate of approved nursing program through an accredited nursing school approved by the State at the time the program was completed.
• Must possess current nursing license in at least one (1) state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia
• Minimum 1-year direct patient care experience within the last three years
• Ability to be favorably credentialed
• Current BLS issued through the American Heart Association
• Must demonstrate advanced assessment and decision making skills
• Must be willing to work 8- or 12-hour shift
• Must be willing to work various shifts as required
• Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
• Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without any reasonable accommodations.


• Proficiency with computer and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.

• Must be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
• Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10ft
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
