Job Duties: As part of Membrane R&D group within Liquid Filtration Division, will engage in the development and scale up of novel and advanced membranes for the control of micro-contamination for the semi-conductor industry. Responsible for scaling up novel membrane processes from R&D to manufacturing and for supporting the membrane development efforts by working closely with senior membrane scientist to design, plan and execute experiments, analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Support manufacturing by offering and executing solutions to potential issues related to yield, capacity, and capability. Play a leadership role in all phases of membrane development with a focus on scale up of new membrane manufacturing processes. Work with equipment vendors to scope, design, build, install and commission new R&D and production scale equipment. Drive readiness of a new membrane manufacturing line and work with Operations, Quality and Development teams to ensure all requirements are met. Develop new solutions to existing membrane manufacturing challenges such as improving yield, increasing capacity and minimizing variation. Establish relationships and work closely with membrane suppliers to develop new membranes to meet Entegris’ specifications. Design and execute experiments, analyze results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for next steps. Communicate with multicultural cross functional team and build consensus to drive projects to completion in a timely manner. Support release of new products or technology through a stage-gate release process. Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data. Perform wide variety of research and development tasks. Up to 15% travel required domestic.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Plastics Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline and 5 years of experience as process engineer, materials engineer or related engineering occupation within a manufacturing industry.

Or Master’s in Plastics Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline and 8 years of experience as process engineer, materials engineer or related engineering occupation within a manufacturing industry.

Or Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline plus 10 years of experience as process engineer, materials engineer or related engineering occupation within a manufacturing industry.

Specific skills and other requirements:

Must possess 5 years’ experience with the following:
• Polymer processing and extrusion process and scale up;
• Rheology of polymers;
• Performing hand on experiments in lab and production environment;
• Application of chemical engineering principles within manufacturing environment; and
• Lean manufacturing.

Must possess 3 years’ experience with the following:
• polyolefins or fluoropolymers related to film and melt extrusion processes.

Salary: $145,600 per year
