Vertex Consulting Services, Inc. in Schaumburg, IL is seeking Senior GIS Java Developer to analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

Job responsibilities and duties include:

• Design, code, and systems integration for client engagement from definition phase through implementation.
• Develop GIS applications, services, and tools in support of business needs.
• Work independently in developing and managing spatial and attribute data.
• Design and develop spatial data migration ETL tools and pipelines.
• Apply significant software development knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.
• Recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.
• Create and execute software development plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
• Inform Product Manager on status of development efforts and serve as liaison between development staff and executive leadership.
• Oversee the software development life-cycle and manage technical risks throughout the project.
• Communicate and enforce coding standards and perform code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers.

This position does not supervise any personnel or participate in any management decisions, nor does this position plan, direct or coordinate the activities of any personnel.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field of study and 5 year(s) of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in any related position(s) in which experience was gained.

Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience, and knowledge with the following:

1. Plan, design, and develop web solutions
2. Spring Boot and Microservices
3. React and JavaScript
4. ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcObjects)
5. ESRI JavaScript API
6. GIS integrations
7. Agile methodologies or frameworks
