Senior Data Engineer, General Reinsurance Corporation, Stamford, CT:

Responsible for managing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) process by extracting, organizing, and analyzing pricing data (or other data wrangled into use for pricing or diagnostics). Supporting, revising (possibly re-building at some point), optimizing and maintaining pricing models for all our Commercial Insurance Liability (including some reinsurance) business. Handling models written with Excel front ends and Server level processing and parameter and policy-data tables. Building data processing pipelines to quickly iterate on research ideas and put them into production. Building reports about P&C books of business from diverse databases such as legacy systems, modern platforms, vendor platforms and C:/drives. Leveraging internal and external data sources to engineer novel features to enhance risk segmentation for pricing or data analytics. Measuring and monitoring product, producer, and underwriter performance. Engaging in the evolution of data analytics based on the strategic objective of being a data-oriented and analytics-driven company. Preparing actuarial pricing studies for all segments.

Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, $183,955.00 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience. OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and 3 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

• Using R or Python to extract, transform, and load of internal and external data sources applied to structured and unstructured data;
• SQL, SQL Server, and Database Management;
• Utilizing Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) for Excel and Access;
• Utilizing classical statistics toward data analytics;
• Utilizing modern approaches toward data analytics, including Boosting in machine learning; and
• Creating reports summarizing financial and activity for management review.

Domestic travel required up to 2%.
