Position Overview The Division of Family & Community Services is excited to offer a dynamic opportunity for a Social Services Career Trainee. This role is designed for individuals seeking hands-on training in public assistance services through the Department of Human Services (DHS). As a trainee, you will engage in a comprehensive learning process over six to twelve months, gaining essential skills to manage various public assistance cases.
Your responsibilities will include:
Case Management: Develop expertise in handling cases for programs such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Medical Assistance No Grant (MANG), Aid to the Aged, Blind and Disabled (AABD), Group Care, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Client Engagement: Inform clients about changes in welfare programs, work incentive programs, and child support services, and encourage their participation. Eligibility and Records Management: Receive training in managing earned income cases, determining eligibility, and updating records such as changes in address, unit composition, and budget computations. Special Needs Evaluation: Identify and refer clients with special needs to appropriate services. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a four-year college degree, preferably with coursework in social science or a related field.
