Position Overview:

Flow is seeking a highly experienced and highly motivated Senior DevOps Engineer Intern to join our engineering organization. This unpaid internship is ideal for individuals with extensive experience in DevOps and cloud technologies who are looking to apply their expertise in a dynamic, hands-on environment. As a Senior DevOps Engineer Intern, you will work on complex microservices architecture, cloud deployment planning and execution, and advanced DevOps practices, contributing to the optimization and automation of our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Microservices Architecture: Design and implement scalable microservices architecture to support our applications, ensuring reliability, performance, and fault tolerance.

Cloud Deployment: Plan, configure, and manage cloud deployments on platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or other more cost-effective cloud services platforms, optimizing for cost, performance, and scalability.

Django Engineering: Develop and maintain Django applications, integrating them with microservices and other system components.

Networking: Manage low-level and high-level networking, including TCP/IP protocols, to ensure efficient and secure data transmission.

Shell Scripting: Write and maintain bash and shell scripts for automation, configuration management, and operational tasks, including SSH-based automation.

Linux Administration: Administer and optimize Linux-based systems, ensuring stability, performance, and security.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement and manage infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Ansible, ensuring consistency and repeatability in deployments.

Containerization: Oversee Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration, optimizing container deployments for performance and resource utilization.

DevOps Practices: Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and enhance system reliability.

Cloud Services Planning: Plan, select, configure, and deploy cloud services and infrastructure components, including monitoring and logging solutions.

Security Best Practices: Apply security best practices across the infrastructure, ensuring data protection and compliance with industry standards.

Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for architecture designs, infrastructure setups, and operational procedures.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Computer Science.
5-6+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, with a focus on microservices architecture, cloud deployment, and advanced DevOps practices.
Strong experience with Django engineering and integration.
Proficiency in low-level and high-level networking, including TCP/IP protocols.
Extensive experience with bash, SSH, and shell scripting.
Expertise in Linux administration and system optimization.
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Deep understanding of containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration with Kubernetes.
Expert with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and cloud services planning, selection, and deployment.
Strong skills in automating deployments, managing CI/CD pipelines, and enhancing system reliability.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement scalable and secure solutions.
Ability to work independently, manage complex tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills and experience collaborating effectively in a remote team environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with advanced cloud networking (e.g., VPC, VPN).
Expert with additional scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go).
Expert with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
Expert with serverless architectures and related services.
