Electrical Engineer (3) Contract To Hire Onsite, San Diego We are partnering with a leading engineering services provider to hire (3) Electrical Engineers to join their non-combat ship building client for an exciting, long-term project. You will be participating in a brand new design! YOU WILL BE:
- Responsible for complex electrical design calculations and drawing development for the construction, maintenance, and repair of maritime vessels and shipboard systems
- Ensuring vessel design is in compliance with relevant regulatory authorities, specifications and customer requirements.
- Responsible for the technical management of design and analyses projects from concept to completion.
- Reviews drawings for compliance, accuracy and ease of production.
- Liaise with production and provide technical support during construction.
- Works with production and project teams to successfully implement vessel and vessel component designs.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in the manufacturing, construction (or similar) industry, shipbuilding industry required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Possesses strong leadership skills, Ability to help grow company culture
- Understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, and MS Office products
- Experienced Ship Construction
- Strong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of US Navy vessels
- Thorough knowledge of power distribution, motor controllers, variable frequency drives, lighting systems, and communication systems
- Experience with managing Electric Plant Load Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, Voltage Drop, and Breaker Coordination Studies
- Thorough knowledge of IEEE standards, ABS rules, IEC standards, SOLAS, Military Specifications, and/or NEC
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
- 18 years of age or older at time of application
- Able to provide proof of US Person Status
- No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
- No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date
- Willing to submit to a drug screen
- Willing to submit to a background check
- TOOLS: Computer – MS Office, AutoCAD
PAY & BENEFITS SUMMARY:
- $50-100 hourly (negotiable depending on experience)
- Contractor benefits provided through agency prior to full-time conversion
- 40 hours per week
- Per Diem relocation packages available
