Role : Solution Architect Location : Remote (Must work in PST) The Solution Architect (SA) will understand the concepts of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes and their importance in solution architecture. The solutions architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis, and design tasks required to support the development of technology solutions that meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. They create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions - including systems (applications, processes, information and technology), shared infrastructure services, and shared application services and components which enable and drive targeted business outcomes. Responsibilities The Solutions Architect will demonstrate the following competencies: 1. Interpret Business Needs Translates business and technical requirements into architectural blueprints designed to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work. Works closely with the application owners and managers to ensure that targeted business requirements are delivered throughout the product lifecycle. Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines enterprise solution designs and change requirements to drive the organization's business outcomes. Create requirements traceability document, business process/capability impact assessment, and business process diagrams. 2. Assess Technology Analyzes the business and technical environments to identify critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement. Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations. Consults with application and infrastructure development projects to ensure products are built to design standards, advising on necessary design modifications to accommodate the overall architecture. Compile current state architecture documentation and vendor assessment criteria in support of requests for proposals, contribute to cost/benefit analyses, and assist with proof-of-concept implementations. 3. Apply Technology Leads evaluation, design, and analysis across a portfolio of business applications and technologies to create solutions architectures aligned with enterprise business strategy and target state business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements, and enterprise standards. Provide consulting support during the analysis, design, implementation, and transition to emerging technology such as cloud computing, cloud to on-premise application integration, and software application cyber compliance and compatibility. Acts as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes. Creates architectural designs and solution documentation to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information. Qualifications Minimum of five years of experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines in utility technology, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development Experience with Utility Technology Applications like Oracle Utilities applications for energy and water. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information-technology, engineering, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms, and processing environments Knowledge of different modeling languages (such as ArchiMate, UML, and BPMN) Good understanding of strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models Experience developing architecture blueprints, strategies, and roadmaps Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences Skills Knowledge of various backend development languages, database technologies, frontend web development languages Knowledge of various aspects of a technology architecture like integration, network, and security Knowledge of information principles and processes Experience managing an application portfolio, including portfolio data management, application planning and road mapping, incorporating software development lifecycle practices. and applying lifecycle management processes throughout the development, maintenance and retirement phases of applications Understanding of IT standards and controls Excellent analytical, planning, organizational and technical and skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills
