Job Overview:

As a Material Coordinator, you will coordinate and organize the flow of materials from suppliers to the manufacturing cell at the Erie Plant. You will manage work-in-progress (WIP) jobs for Erie shops related to FLX Locomotive assemblies, ensuring material availability and flow to support production areas effectively.

Essential Responsibilities:

Material Planning and Inventory Management:

Responsible for material planning and tracking inventory metrics across the supported production area.
Monitor the outcomes of changes to the inventory plan/forecast and suggest necessary modifications.
Coordination and Communication:

Collaborate with all levels of personnel, including hourly staff, supervisors, and forepersons, to resolve issues and advise on material usage.
Manage kit material and expedite material shortages from both internal and external suppliers.
Inventory Optimization:

Maintain inventory health metrics, optimize inventory processes, and lead inventory control and presentation projects.
Manage a team of stock keepers to ensure efficient material flow and control.
Project Management:

Create and execute continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and cost savings in warehousing and production lines.
Metrics and Reporting:

Meet and report on inventory metrics, including material availability, field order on-time delivery (OTD), and warehousing spend.
Present metrics and project statuses to internal teams.
Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work with materials and fulfillment teams to manage safety stocks and optimize planning parameters for material availability.
Engage with data analytics teams to interpret material usage data and implement forecasts.
Compliance and Standardization:

Ensure compliance with all regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry-specific work rules.
Develop and adhere to standard work processes.
Leadership and Ownership:

Take ownership of plantwide materials process improvement projects in addition to planning responsibilities.
Provide clear communication and material guidance to management and other Wabtec employees.
Requirements:

Experience with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems for managing materials and systemic requirements.
Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team with a focus on customer success within the shop.
