Must be between 16 and 56 years old Must have 15 high school credits and Must be a Canadian citizen OR permanent resident You will be required to join the Canadian Army Reserve to be employed in this position. This is NOT a civilian placement. Infantry Soldiers are the Army s primary combat fighters and are responsible for closing with and engaging the enemy. They are the core members of the Combat Arms team, which includes Artillery and Armoured Soldiers. Infantry Soldiers can operate anywhere in the world in any environment Arctic tundra, mountains, jungle, or desert and in any combination of arms, including airmobile and amphibious operations. The primary duties of an Infantry Soldiers are to: Expertly operate and maintain a wide range of weapons, including rifle, hand-grenades, light, medium and heavy machine-guns, and anti-tank weapons Use sophisticated equipment for field communications, navigation, and night-vision surveillance. Inspect and maintain weapon systems, vehicles, survival gear and personal defensive equipment. Operate with support elements such as fighter aircraft, tactical and artillery. Employ camouflage and concealment, patrol, assault, defence, and escape-and-evasion tactics. Infantry Soldiers normally work outdoors. Both in training and on operations they live and work in conditions that would resemble those in the field. Infantry Soldiers will be posted to a battalion in Canada, but there are employment opportunities across Canada and on deployed operations around the world. Reserve Force members usually serve part time at a Reserve Force Division in their community and may serve while going to school or working at a civilian job. They are paid during their training. They are not posted or required to do a military move. However, they can volunteer to move to another base. They may also volunteer for deployment on a military mission within or outside Canada. As a reservist, you will work one night a week, one weekend per month during the September to April timeframe. There may be opportunities for more employment throughout the year however that is not guaranteed. We offer full time summer employment, beginning 1 May until 31 Aug, this is a great opportunity for students. All successful applicants will be required to complete the Basic Military Qualification course (BMQ), either part time, (Friday to Sunday every other weekend for 11 weekends) normally held between September and March or full time in the summer (Monday to Friday) for 5 weeks. Upon completion of the Basic Military Qualification Course, candidates will be required to attend the Infantry Soldier Development Phase One course for a 7week period.
